Pacquiao, long a fan favorite, is no longer driving boxing. Coming off of two controversial fights, arguably both losses, and a string of fights going the distance, Manny's star is dimming.

Cotto, admittedly my favorite fighter, is nearing the end of a solid career which never reached the heights of superstardom like Manny and Floyd. He is also coming off of a loss and currently without a belt.

That said, both are still viable fighters with large fan bases. Most of you know I work in sales and marketing and tend to incorporate that in my view of boxing. So let's take a look a potential fights from both a boxing and sales perspective.

Pac vs. Bradley II: Poor fight with a controversial decision. People didn't line up to buy the first one, (those who did weren't entertained), they won't line up to watch it again.

Pac vs. JMM IV: Would be another close fight, but not as intense as I and II, which were great. Both guys have just slowed down a bit. Plus, people have seen this so many times, eventually they will stop paying to see it again. I'm betting that time is now.

Cotto vs. Alvarez: Great matchup, it would make a good fight. But Canelo fights in September and hasn't faced anybody of substance yet. It sells, but Golden Boy won't let it happen yet.

Cotto vs. Trout/K9: Cotto beats both handily, although K9's haymakers add more entertainment value. Cotto picks up a strap to use for a future Alvarez fight, but doesn't sell as many PPV's as a fight against Pac.

Cotto vs. Pacquiao II: Offers both a competitive fight and a big audience. Neither fighter has commitments near that date and Cotto has worked for Top Rank in the past. The fight will sell, although it will need a good undercard to approach 1 million. It makes more sense than the alternatives.

(I am purposely leaving Pac/May off the list because I do not believe it is truly an option and that it would be a one sided affair if it did ever happen)

Pac vs the Rios/Alvarado winner early next year would be great, but there isn't much for him to do in the way of big fights at the moment.

Strictly a money fight and all that's wrong with boxing.

    Pac already beat Cotto.

Cotto just lost his last fight.

Cotto is not the top guy at any weight.

    FIght is probably a catchweight.

Pac should be doing everything in his power to fight Floyd.

lol, you can't have it both ways. There can be no argument made for a Bradley win. If Marquez dominated Pac(I agree here) then Pac destroyed Bradley.

Marquez was cheated but so was Pac. **** Arum.

    There is no case. None.

  9. I'm guessing the *****s would defend a Floyd-Cotto rematch as the best fight that could made.

hell no. **** that fight too and **** it at 150 even more.

  11. I don't want to see cotto vs pac or vs may. They were clear losses . How about he takes on some top jr middleweight contenders and prove he is one the best at 154? What had cotto done at 154?? Yuri foreman who was forced into retirement because he could not compete with elites ? Mayorga? One eyed margarito ?? Please

  12. I love how all these tards **** and moan and cry about a fight this legit. The first fight was sensational, if they fought again Cotto would win. Are you guys *******s or just regular tards? This fight is a no-****ing brainer for fight-fans.

  13. I want to see it because it would be violent and brutal.

    :hey

Pac fans know Cotto is in a more healthy situation, they don't want no part of him because he can likely win.. And Bradley made him look average,so they are all calling for the Juan fight 'Even though Pac feels he beat him 3 times!"
