Major props to Leben for taking on two highly regarded MW contenders in the span of two weeks and for producing stoppages against both. The way he fought last night was pure balls. Who would you like to see next for the Crippler? I'm holding out for a showdown with the Axe Murderer myself.
I believe 3 of us picked Leben to win in the prediction thread. LB actually called the triangle. Leben fought his heart out, and I was hoping he would get the decision until he forced that triangle.
Major redemption after the roids scandal, I thought he was done. Leben seems to be a fighter who takes on step back and then two steps forward in terms of him career. And his fighting style too for that matter Dudes a true warrior no doubt, Wandy next
I thought it would be an entertaining fight and I called that. It was give and take all the way. Quality by both. I had Leben winning the third despite being on his back. I'm not gonna give the BS rounds to the guy on top if he is getting raped by the guy on his back.
I thought Akiyama was much better than he showed last night. I guess Leben was on point with his pre-fight comments. I thought the fight as a whole, along with the card as a whole, was extremely dissapointing. Probably the worst card in recent memory.
Leben is the man and props to him exposing Akiyama I never understood the obsession people had with that guy. Another awesome Chris Leben fight like usual cant wait to see him fight Wanderlei if that does indeed happen.
You really think so? I was suspect about the card and wasn't even gonna watch it if it wasn't for pure last minute bordom. That card ended up being extremely good. Every fighter came to bring it. Every fight was exciting. The co-main event and main event were awesome. It ended up being a great card IMO. I actually called it garbage a few days ago. I take it back.
No disrespect but how anyone could see a card featuring Leben, Lytle, Bonnar and of course Carwin vs Lesnar as a **** card makes me stratch my head. Like you as a poster and understand not everyone can be flawless like me :yep As for the guy you are quoting WTF is he watching ? Lesnar vs Carwin ok Carwin drops Lesnar and beats the **** out of him for 4 minutes then round 2 comes and the Champ battles back secures a TD and a submission victory in a hell of a Championship fight a fight that lived up to the hype. Bonnar vs Soszynski II was a bloody war and had an exicting KO finish, Pellegrino vs Sotiropoulus was a bit disapointing to me but a solid fight regardless not boring by any means, Lytle had a great finish over Brown very cool submission dont see a triangle and americana combo often and Leben vs Akiyama was one hell of a slugfest and ended in a dramatic submission and I even thought the Gordan Reilic vs Kendall Grove fight shown last was a very good fight 2. All the fights where good.
Yea, Lytle used a pretty similar move before where he had a mounted triangle and attacked the arm, that time he used a kimura, but it is always great to see high level bjj from a guy known for brawling.
Dont remember seeing that was it vs Jason Gilliam at UFC 73 because sherdog has that result listed as a triange/kimura. But yeah Lytle has some slick Jiujitsu hes pulled off some beautiful submission holds over the years. I love seeing him stand up and brawl but hey its a good idea for him to keep using his Jiujitsu its whats won him the last 2 of this 3 fight win streak. Seeing Lytle get in contender status would be awesome.
Leben is a dumbass but he's a very entertaining fighter. Props to him for two great wins in a row. I hope the fight with Wanderlai comes to pass.
