    Hello.

As per the discussion this week on the forum i'm organising a hall of fame voted for by the forum continuing, here, with the Heavyweights. If you have any general points to make about the process or think changes are needed, please don't post them in this thread, but rather the one linked below.

    https://www.boxingforum24.com/threads/the-classic-bn24-hall-of-fame-a-chat.692777/

This is for any and all discussion surrounding technical issues relating to the process. In this thread, discussion is encouraged but should surround only the seven fighters to be inducted into the inaugural Classic Hall of Fame

Please read the rules before posting.

1 - You will nominate 7 Heavyweights from the provided list that you believe should be in the inaugural HoF.
2 - The seven Light-Heavyiweghts most often named will be inducted.
3 - In the case of a tie, I'll call upon you all to vote again to settle the issue.
4 - You are voting on the ENTIRE career of the fighters to hand. You are NOT just inducting them as Heavyweights - consider their whole career, pound-for-pound, when voting.
5 - Fighters must be retired on or before December 31st 1999 to be considered for the HoF.
6 - You can alter your list right up until the closing date by editing the post with your list in it.

Thank you for participating. It is your Hall of Fame so please do consider your votes carefully and take your time. The thread will be closed to new votes on October 13.

OK i'm going to step in here, for the last time.

@JackSilver and @turpinr you are voting against the inclusion of Sam Langford in the Classic Hall of Fame? You think Jack Johnson and Ken Norton are greater fighters overall than Langford?

If you do, that's fine - but remember what you're voting for and what the parameters are. You are voting on a whole career.

No doubt Langford is an all time great but at what weight ??
While Langford has a greater resume than Norton, Johnson is another matter.

You are not voting for a fighter at the weight. Weightclass organisation is just the mode of delivery to the hall of fame, a way of organising the question. See rule 4:

"You are NOT just inducting them as Heavyweights."

Yeah Johnson is in my top 20 greatest heavyweights an I know you said consider the entire career not just at heavyweight but at the end of the day this is still when all is said an done the hof induction for the heavyweight class so in my thinking that’s still the most important factor so yeah I’m picking Johnson

It's so strange thinking Holmes is left off. I know he fought after 2000, but what a strange later career he had.

I figured the two biggest upsets when I set the criteria would be not getting to vote for Duran and not getting to vote for Holmes.

Without Duran on the 135lb list, as I stated, I'd give Ken Buchaan a good chance against any of them, apart from maybe Ike Williams

I was more annoyed about Whitaker than Holmes, tbh.
