He was beyond annoying. He was telling Roy stuff he had been doing for god knows how long. All Jones said during twenty minutes of documentary was "yeah... ok... yeah... uhhuh... yeah... ok man... yeah". He was visibly annoyed. Even his voice is annoying. I'm not saying the man doesn't know what he's doing, because obviously he's very good at it. But man is he annoying.
Yea, i remember that. Roy looked like - Now can't you just shut the **** up for one minute ?. But on the other hand he sometimes gave some good advice but yeah, he should learn to keep his mouth shut for a little.
i admit the boxing advice he gave jones was annoying because jones already has a plan and a trainer to tell him what to do, but other than that i didn't find him annoying, it was funny when he was doing those stretches while waiting for jones.
His strategy was bollocks but he is a motivator. That is part of the package. Its part of how he gets them training. He is so passionate about his work that he makes you passionate. Remember athletes generally don't like the S&C training. Boxers want to box. Mackie has to help them to like what they are doing. ESPECIALLY when these guys have no history with weights i.e. Spinks, Jones and Tarver.
I didn't get the impression it worked that well on Jones. I know he does his job well and that he's knowledgeable, I'm not trying to put him down. I just downloaded his Fuel Guide btw. Nice read, the only nitpick is the lack of advice on fats.
That is just Jones. That laid back, lazy talking image I believe is a result of his culture be it America, Hip hop etc Shilstone is irrefutably the best S&C coach. The only nitpick I can say is when RJJ fought Tarver the second time he appear to look like ****.
I can see through his laid back style, it wasn't that. It was obvious that Jones respected the **** out of Shilstone, otherwise he would have told him to shut up at some point. His face was telling everything, he looked annoyed. I don't think Jones is a good example of Shilstones work, Jones is too intelligent, he does not need to be motivated like that. I agree that Shilstone is the best S&C coach around though. Hands down. Ps. I found some fat related advice in his Fuel Guide, namely "avoid fats". Hmmm.
Well if what you say is true then why was RJJ using Mackies motivational talk in his interviews? Calling himself a jet fighter etc Jones body was superb at the weight. There is physical and mental evidence that suggest otherwise.
i hear manny pacquiao's old s&c coach justine fortune was pretty good aswell and vitali and wlad old trainer fritz sdunek.
