I don't know if it would make for a good fight, but it sure would make for a great movie.

Baer was a very good actor; had a presence on the screen that was natural and real.
Fury is a media sensation; he has a Don Rickles--type mouth.

Their press interviews would be hilarious.

That's almost word for word what I thought Wlad would do to Fury. But that's not the way it turned out, did it?

Can you bet on either of them? I am reluctant to say it's possible to predict the best version of both turn up at the same time.

Fury bested an old champion, who none the less was at that time still regarded as the best HW in the world. outsmarted and out worked him in a tedious but clever fight that was awful to watch. He had competitive wins at domestic level with chisora and McDermott that gave him good experience but the rest of his career was typical prospect fare. That's it. No dominant elite wins. Just a decision over one elite opponent.

Baer was likely to lose to the best guys he beat often won and lost to guys he fought twice, but he fought a lot, was always dangerous but at least scored two dominant elite wins. Schmeling and Carnera were both regarded the best in the world when Baer beat them and he knocked both of them into next week.
