Thanks! Man, I thought boxing was big in the UK.

If Johnson can win anything, that could set up a fight for the geriatric championship of the world with BHop, it would be a safe farewell fight for Hop.

I see I'm not the only one who was slowly won over by Froch. He really does have a grows-on-you type of personality.

Its quite hard to judge because we get very good attendance over here compared to in US probably due to it being a small island so travel isnt such an issue. Also when you are on boxing forums you are talking to boxing fans so you get the idea that some boxers are huge in their countries.Going on the amount of attention in the media and my own experience boxing is a small sport with a fair few casual fans who want to see big guys ko each other or a local fighter and a smaller hardcore group of fans who you are more likely to meet on here.

I dont know if its a case that boxing has become smaller in the UK but more that boxing has become smaller globally and in turn become smaller in the UK.

There's definitely a "I hope he gets cancer" -> "meh" -> "he's a good guy" cycle with him.

You seem to be constant: you like to hate. Try to like boxing for a change.

Things are a lot different here than 15-20 years ago when all the big fights were on free TV on a Saturday night. Whole families would go to pubs and social clubs to watch the likes of Benn, Eubank, Hamed, Bruno, etc but these days I rarely hear anyone talking about boxing if at all. Most people would recognize Haye, Hatton and Khan from the newspapers but even the 'huge' PPV sales these guys do represents a tiny minority of the population.

Froch deserves to be a megastar here and would have been 20 years ago. I just hope he doesn't lose again before he gets the recognition he deserves. The biggest obstacle to that is absolutely no-one here knows who Johnson, Ward, Bute, etc are, although I can see a Froch-Ward fight being on par with Calzaghe-Lacy in terms of hype and name-breaking potential if the media big Ward up enough.

That's such a nice, romantic image. Those English pubs really have a special kinda charm.

    aye!
Was never really exposed to him till he got under Showtimes Super6. His natural defense stance is scares everyone lol. But it sure sets up hella great fights! I was skeptical about him vs AA, but was VERY surprised when he was able to replicate a Andre Dirrell plan, but in his own way and strengths. Switched into a boxer, used his range and great timing. His whiskers proved strong, and pulled out an impressive win!

If he's able to switch like this in mid-fight, then he'll prove to be an extremely tough puncher to deal with...

I never cared for his loose mouth outside of the ring that always undermined his performance in the ring. Its good to see him grow up in character and start acting like a classy gent..

I'm officially rooting for Froch to win the S-6! On Tuesday Pavlik gave the Youngstown media a rather lengthy interview. Along the way he referenced his WBC #1 ranking, and referred to Carl Froch as "a beautiful guy."

Let's see the current version of "The Cobra" versus a focused and determined Pavlik with Smoger as the ref. That **** has fight of the decade written all over it!
