I've kind of shirked out of categorizing guys like Royce Gracie, Bas Rutten and Dan Severn, who were incredibly important to MMA, but whose ability/achievements are difficult to define because of the era they fought in. No chance. Rampage's hit list includes: Dan Henderson Lyoto Machida Chuck Liddell x2 Ricardo Arona Wanderlei Silva Igor Vovchanchyn Kevin Randleman Keith Jardine and more No way in hell does either Vitor, Tito or Frank come even close to that res. :nono
Great list however, I would put Rich Franklin on the borderline great list. If it wasn't for Silva, I believe Rich would've reigned at MW alot longer.
I was just thinking about them specially Bas Rutten and if they where to be ranked very good or greats and wondered why you didnt do a thread about them.
How about a best of the pioneers thread Popkins? Maybe a poll on the best fighters from about 93-2000 there could be some interesting criteria Resume Achievement Legacy and effect on the sport Skill set

Really?, I mean he was good but I wouldn't even have him on my "top 5 from Japan" list (if I had one :yep). I personally don't think Jake Shields is above the level of say, Josh Barnett, but it's whatever.
Dude was a freak, one hell of an entertainer as well as a brilliantly talented fighter. Granted, he's not one of the greats, but I wouldn't be putting him down amongst all the other 'very good' fighters either. He's somewhere in between. I've also got Genki's nuts firmly lodged down my throat, so feel free to call it bias if you want.
