DAMN...... Thought I came to the Australian Contender thread, not the ESB Pissing Championships (Oceana Division). Maybe I can get the topic back on track. First though I'll get this out of the way. Israel Kani and Josh Clenshaw aint bums, that's just the type of disrespectful verbal that one would expect from those never to have known the sacrifice required in becoming an Australian champion. As for their fight you have to watch the full bout on Fox 8 to get a true feel for how they both performed. I was impressed with Kani who only needed to show a little more aggression to take the close rounds and score a win. His physique and fighting style are more suited to bouts longer than the 5 rounds he fought against Clenshaw although at 36 time is running out for him to perfect his game. Josh Clenshaw is 4 years younger than Kani but didn't look it. The energy that saw him battle out two thrillers with Daniel Dawson has all but been depleted yet experience and heart saw him prevail. While Josh can still put on a show I suspect that he, like his nemesis Nader Hamdan, will sort out the pretenders from the true contenders before falling away at the hands of younger, sharper opposition. As for the official result, I gave R1 to Kani, with R2 + R4 to Clenshaw. Rounds 3 and 5 could have gone either way. My prediction to win Contender is either Oganov or Talipeau with Singh and McKinnon the smokies. With the winner to fight Mundine it will be interesting to see whether youngsters Singh and Talipeau make the improvement required to compete with Choc should either of them win the competition. Oganov on the other hand would make Mundine work hard from the opening bell should they face off with Victor's only two losses coming at the hands of world class opponents. I agree that the priority of Contender Australia is entertainment yet don't be surprised if we don't all look back one day and reflect on what was the making of a champ....or the end of a chump. :bbb
I don't want to bring this up again.. but I think it has to be said. Aaron - I'm a fighter. Because I'm a fighter - I respect every man on that show. I know the physical duress they place their body under; the mental battles they fight. Because of this, I would never call a man a bum or disparage them like you have. A spade is a spade - if they are limited in skill, so be it; but, you have been way out of line. You say Clenshaw couldn't punch - I'd guarantee he'd make your head spin. You say he was ****ed after 2 - I'd guarantee he could do 8. I think you've got a pretty limited understanding here. These guys are boxing. You say you're at a gym - I don't doubt it. But, your attitude makes me think you've experianced **** all. Until you've spent some time in the squared circle, don't disrespect the character of men that have survived tests that yours may not.
Kronk continually warns this joint is full of keyboard heros - speaking of which, where is the Krokster??
Mate I get what you are saying. If you read one of my earlier posts, you will see clear as day " I admire any man who jumps in the ring" they have balls and heart. When I label a fighter a bum, its because he had little to no skill, and really shouldnt be in the ring for his own sake, much as I saw last Monday night....anyway this argument is finished. Oh and one last thing, dude who is that bird in your avatar? Where can I buy her? Is she your mrs? Can I have her ?
poor choice of words maybe even the shittiest fighter deserves the respect for the heart it takes to get into the ring, as they have more of it than 99.9% of the population.
