Such a stupid way to look at things. Just because they lost, doesn't mean they can't contend.
Yes it would be nice to see fresh names but that doesn't mean they are more deserving.

And the whole idea of the show is to bring forth the next top contender. This is not for some grand glory. These guys deserve to fight through though competition and to prove themselves.

 

Interesting I may watch if its the real deal, and not some reality show crap with the kardashians and omarrossa picking the final contestant.

 

Slave names?
Most of these "Slave names" are just common names. Nothing wrong with Anthony or Jon.
And most who change their name because they think they inherited a "slave name" do so because of religious beliefs. Religious movements focus on these "slave names".
A name is just a name, some are just less fortunate, like Laquisha. I can't fathom the idea of someone naming themselves Laquisha to "erase" a "slave name".


I have an old ass Finnish name, but i am an Estonian. Should i drop my name just because?
And should we only be called by the names our ancestors used?
And where does this line end?
Should we only live where out ancestors used to?
Should we behave like they did?
Should we live the same lives and work the same jobs as they did?
What about traditions?
Are you obligated to hold certain traditions due to your skin colour?

Or can we live the lives we choose to and where we choose to? Can we find out own paths and own meanings?

How so? How can i not relate? Because i am white?
My country has been occupied numerous times throughout history. Estonia gained it's independence less than 2 years before my birth.
The Soviet Union tried to make Estonians the minority in their own country. We went from 94% down to 61% by the late 80s.
In 1949 an estimated 20,000 native Estonians were deported to Siberia. Among them were some our smartest people and a few of members of my family tree.

And here i am with a name that does not belong to my people, yet i dont give a **** because it's just a name. And i am not part of the past.

(The Soviets even supposedly took massive chunks of land that belonged to my family)

Oh absolutely.
I would probably like to change my name if it was linked to some Russian dictator or anything close to that.
But i have a regular name that is foreign to my nation and i see no problem with it.
And i do understand the issue.

So if you don't like your name, (luckily) you can change it. But don't do it for some pretentious reason.
These so called slave names are perfectly normal names.
If you just happen to dislike it, change.
If you want to get a closer connection to your ancestors with a more appropriate name, the by all means do it.
