Who wins? I don’t know if Corrie gets Ike out of there, doubt it. But I do think he comes into this one in top shape and boxes up Ike for a UD win. I think he’d have to survive some scares multiple times in this one but the Sanders from this time was NOT the Sanders that gassed against Rahman. Much more motivated and less reliant on his power.

It’s kind of weird, Corrie seemed to actually hit HARDER in the later part of his career. But I know that’s probably do to him being able to box for 12 rounds early on and not just having a “Meh… I got five or six rounds to catch this guy with the left, I’ll just make ‘em count and not worry with scoring points. He’ll fall before we get deep” attitude.

Ike survives the early storm and starts to break him down. By the 8/9th, Corrie is far behind and falling apart.

Corrie never showed the ability to box around a aggressive, powerful heavyweight who wouldn't go away for an extended period of time. What's the closest he came to doing so? Outpointing a 23-10 Puritty? Ike was about 50 times as aggressive as Ross, who hid behind a high guard.

Gotta remember Sanders was timed and KO'ed stiff by one right hand from Tony Tubb's brother. He was neither durable or a careful boxer... always struck me as a puncher with lightning fast hands and a very poor gas tank.

Love Corrie but I'd go with Ike. It would be fun while it lasts.

Ibeabuchi stops him between 7-8 rounds he's too durable too much workrate and he would survive any early onslaught from Sanders.

If Rahman can beat Sanders in a brawl there's no reason why Ibeabuchi couldn't either.

Ike is as slow as molasses, he'd get lit up like a christmas tree. He looked good because he fought against no-footwork guys who were there to be hit. His defence is his chin ... Sanders is not the guy to charge into chin first.

I give it 75-25 for Ike, if it's best for best. It's a strange fight to call. These are unique bundles. Some of the most potentially dangerous non-greats you're going to come up with. But Ike's best has the durability and stamina that makes him a strong favourite. Sanders is one of those guys where no matter how much an underdog he should be though, a fast, hard-hitting, combination punching, strong southpaw, cannot be more of a wild card type.

Ike survives the early onslaught from Sanders and slowly breaks him down via 8 round stoppage. This is a fight where Sanders' bad stamina will play a significant factor that favors Ike, who has always had a great stamina and workrate alongside thudding power. It would have been a fun HW brawl though.

If you want to play this game, Purrity is a much better proxy for Ibeabuchi than Sanders is for anyone Ibeabuchi beat. Ike was rumored to be getting schooled by Kirk Johnson in the gym.

You could also throw in Du Plooy as a guy who was kind of like Ike.
