I remember just a short time ago, I was saying that Mijares was a hype job that got SD and draws in fights that he should have lost. I said that he wasnt that good. I was called crazy. Then after he lost to vic, it was said that Vic was GREAT, a p4p top guy...but now that he has lost to a novice what is the excuse???

I noticed that he lost and no one is talking about it. why not, is his hype train empty?? Were did all the Mijires is god posters go??? Did you give up on your boy??

Christian "God" Mijares, who could forget.

I think he also started calling him Christ at one point, talking about he had ATG skills, Top 20 P4P all time.

I havent seen Amsterdam since Mijares got his ass handed to him though.

Poor *******. When you hype a fighter as much as he did, there is no way not to look like a complete idiot.

Some of the Haye fans are probably in for the same thing

Well, Arce was an awesome beast and truly a special fighter and Mijares schooled him to shock the world. Kawashima and Navarro were very tough kids as well as no2 guy Munoz in the division when he unified, and Mijares handled them well. It's so easy to look smart afterwards, but you could not discredit his lower top10 P4P status a year ago, based on his very good run and spectacular overall skill level.

Stupid MDs in fights he dominated and a loss to now-P4P-er Darchinyan doesn't make his previous achievements go away. His latest loss should've been a win, somehow these judges don't like his effective counter-punching on the cards. Mijares was awesome and still very good, question is how much does he has left after the brutal beating he took vs. Vic. Give him time, it took 3 fights for Darchinyan to get back on top.

Again the critics came out of their caves AFTER he lost, like when Cotto was beat or Williams. I can objectively say that Mijares deserved his #8-10 P4P place, he earned it and his skill level is elite. Just because some guys hyped him all the time and he lost, his previous achievements and great performances don't go away, even if you want to discredit it.

if mijares was so great he should have came back stronger and put on an impressive performance against cermeno. he lost via sd instead.

mijares is a good fighter, but i cannot consider him elite even before the darchinyan beatdown. yeah he made a fine performance against kawashima arce munoz and navarro so what? besides we all know that arce is one dimensional and hes been into several wars before the mijares fight

You are definitely underrating Arce's skills and probably know little about the quality of Kawashima or Munoz. Doesn't really matter. If you expect a strong, knockout comeback after a brutal beating, it doesn't happen and you start to discredit his quality or previous achievements, let is be your problem. Boxing doesn't work like that. It's not table tennis. Mijares might never be the same again, but he had a top quality run before Darchinyan, and showed elite skills. Give him time and see if he'll ever reach that level again, I hope he does. But no loss can change whatever happened in the past (I remember the stupid comments on Hamed when he was beat by Barrera. Of course he didn't come back to shut the critics up, but his previous achievements didn't go away).
