Hes nothing like it, hes just really tough and has a lot of other intangibles. In terms otaking down and finishing a striker, there are more dangerous fighters. However, he is obviously a way better grappler than Silva, thats obvious.
Crocop was a beast in his prime. He is a better striker than silva but i would give silva an edge on the ground. Anyways i still like crocop winning this fight in their prime.
Silva sd/ud Cro Cop lost to Erneto Hoost like 3 times. Silva and Hoost are both agile thai boxers as well as Silva has better hands and head movement. If Fedor could land a rocking punch to Cro, so can Anderson.
Hoost was also nearly 240lbs and much much technically better than Silva could hope to be which is an advantge that Mirko would also have over Silva. Bigger and techncally better> smaller and technically inferior.
crocop-hoost was a kickboxing match. We're talking about mma fight here. Crocop would have the size advantage here. I got crocop by KO.
Depends on how you measure it. Obviously, there's guys out there like Fedor and Aoki who can make submissions seemingly out of nowhere, which normally produces submissions that will look a lot more impressive than those of Nogueira. But you have to take into account that Nog doesn't really have anything else than a granite chin and his submissions to work with. Two thirds of his wins have come by submission, and he has almost zero KO's. Also, Fedor knew not to try to submit Nog, I think that says it all. There may be guys at the lower weight classes of equal or superior skill, but I can't recall anyone at HW being on par with Nog grappling-wise.
I think people arent giving Silva any credit..Silva has great footwork and can go on a defensive and pick his shots. As a pure striker, Crocop has the clear advantage but Silva has a more versatile standup game. We wouldnt know, Thai boxing is different from K1. Silva has improved leaps and bounds in 5 years and keeps on evolving, the guy has all the tools (esp athletically) had he chose to be a K1 fighter from the get go. I mean look at K1 max, MT fighters are pretty successful .just because you're in K1 doesnt necessarily make you the best striker in the world
Not saying Silva could or couldn't beat CroCop, but what does Ernesto Hoost have to do with anything? Silva and Hoost are quite different fighters.
lets put it like this: im his short but awesome prime as a k1 and pride fighter crocop defeated the likes or remy bonjasky and peter aerts (both 3 time GP winners),seriously could you imagine silva in there with either of them,he'd get a new arsehole torn!! in pride he destroyed a prime wanderlai silva and josh barnett in one night to win one of the toughest pride grand prix's ever, the crocop pre 2006 would destroy any version of silva and i mean destroy!! silly question. beating forrest griffin and rich franklin makes him p4p no.1 ?? people think the guys the new bruce lee
