Banning it completely is just a stupid Knee-jerk reaction. It needs to be properly regulated. No-one wants to see kids being hurt or exploited but you also don't want to see them deprived of something they love.

No its not a Knee Jerk reaction, the CSAC has been invesigating this **** for a long time, There are alot of internal issues with the amatuer boxing program, here is another example, USA Boxings former long time ref Don Livingston, he has been a ref for about 20 years, was well respected etc.. However he was using his sons social security number and DOB they have the same name However after finding out who he really was he was immediatley banned from any events and can not participate in any of the Amatuer program becuase he was convicted of **** back in the 70's and this ****ing guy was around our kids for years and none of us knew until about 2 years ago.

The CSAC is a bunch of morons. They need to stick with the pros and let USA Boxing and the 4 LBCs deal with the events in their jurisdictions. The last time the CSAC got involved, from what I hear, it was a disaster. And half of the things they're talking about, like promoters and what not, don't really exist in the amateurs.

Illegal club shows exist so they ban all amateur boxing events? That makes no sense. People speed, so ban all driving? After hours clubs exist so ban all bars?

Hopefully some Olympic hopefuls go to the press with the story of how they may miss their shot due to this. That might help change some minds.

The shows weren't even illegal. God, these people are morons. They were sanctioned private shows. They happen all the time. And the minimum age for amateur boxing is 8; it's not like these kids were being exploited-their parents all registered them for USA Boxing and their coaches were all there. :patsch

Knee-jerk is the wrong phrase. I meant they over-reacted. you can fix the problems. Theres no need to ban it completely. Amateur boxing goes on all over the world & runs pretty smoothly in alot of places.

This is what I read from a person involved down in California. Kinda shows you how little the CSAC knows about what goes on in amateur boxing in terms of the registration fees; it makes it look like a ploy to make some money.

Exactly whats screwed up is that the other officials out here like to keep her south of Orange County, they say they would rather see the kids fight, and that Mel is too strict with the rules, I mean that is just some ****ed up **** to say, you need the rules in this sport.

Then move the **** out, California had nothing to do with this, its the ****ed up trainers and club owners doing this, its also the parents of the kids allowing this to happen as well, and California isnt the only state that has this problem
