Point being what?? Andre Ward won gold and nobody noticedÂ…:patsch

Amateur boxing was a much different game 20-35yrs ago on those fights you are referencing.

    How was it different?

That is because America was already in serous decline when ward won it, and everyone is quick to point out that war is an Olympic gold medelisit aren't they?

You do know that the rules changed back to the ten piont must system and removed headgear and under the new rules USA had there worst tournament ever by far

The entire Americans squad of 10 fighters won a grand total of 4 fights too put that into perspective jason Quigley won 4 fights on his own

So America who constantly bitched about the ten point must system and how it didn't suit them got there way an got the scoring system that supposedly suits them and did a lot worse than they did with the points system

Now that your new excuse ha been exposed as ******ed what you going to try next?

Boxing in America is in decline, that's undeniable. But are you aware that the top talent in American amateur boxing prior to the world championships already turned pro?

Are you aware that most of the top fighters in all countries prior to the world championship had turned pro?

The whole Ukraine team turned pro, lots of Russians , British , most of the kazak fighters were new

And that brings us back to the usual excuse, all our boys have turned pro it's now boys against men, Cuba have a younger team

I mean turned pro before ever competing in the olympics or world championships. These are 18-19 year old kids. Name one top fighter (i.e. top in weight class domestically) from these countries who turned pro before competing in the world championships or olympics.

Erickson Lubin, for example, turned pro on his 18th birthday before competing in the world championships or olympics. He was USA top P4P amateur fighter.

Sergei kovalev, Callum smith, hughie fury, tyson fury, Ivan golub, Carl frampton, Jamie kavanagh, Ryan Burnett ,mile Perez, Luis Garcia do you want me to keep going on?

And as Iv said in other thread Americans have always turned pro young but it's only in the last ten years they have been doing **** and using it as an excuse, and using other excuses like it's boys against men

Barely any fighter would be too of there weight classes in these countries at 18-19 only in America also

Kovalev fought for years in the Russian amateur system and couldn't get by Korobov. That's not what I'm talking about. Most of the rest of those guys are British, which is similar to America in that there's more incentive to turn pro.
