There are some strange goings on in camp Povetkin. It appears as though his career is going backwards. Now it's usual practise for fighters to work there way up from fighting bums to getting somewhere near the upper tier of elite fighters. But Povetkin's case is somewhat different and unique.

It appears as though little Alex is going backwards, and very soon could find himself back to fighting bums and perhaps even amateurs!!

This really is a curious case in question. Any thoughts?

He has fight scheduled for 18 december. And his manager just today confirmed rumors about his opponent, but its not on boxrec yet.

    What a strange person.

Didn't believe he could compete against the best Heavyweights, so pretty much takes the easy way out.

I mean yes looking at the current pattern, he is heading back to his pugalistic infancy. Interesting. Never known a case quite like it.

I think his management will just pad his record with nobodies and wait until both Klits retire. How old is Povetkin by the way?

I've never known a fighter to regress like this while still in his athletic prime. He faced very respectable opposition on the way up and, in his last fight, struggled against a guy who wasn't as good as his early comp.

I really don't know what Atlas is doing with him yet but the early indications are, he could be ruining his career. I remember hearing Atlas wanted him to fight 5 times in quick succesion (6 months or so), so that he could learn on the job, so to speak. I'm curious to see what Povetkin looks like this time next year.
