Yeah he's already getting a little more baby fat around his body too. The man who went from hot skillful prospect, to top contender and then going backwards ever since!!!!

I think there is something not right with Alex mentally. He just doesn't seem to have the mentality of a fighter in the ring. When he actually works and puts stuff together in the ring he is class but it's almost like he doesn't want to be there.

I agree - he still has the 3rd best cv at HW with some decent wins (Chagaev, Chambers, Byrd) but physically, it looks like he just isn't taking things seriously enough. If he had a work-ethic and commitment to fitness like Wladimir he could become a genuine force in the division, but as it is time is running out on him. He'll be 33 this year and though he has the fakest of fake championship belts his career looks to have passed him by.

The sad thing is, he doesn't really need to look convincing to get the title shot - he just needs to say he wants it and it will happen. It would be big in Germany and the east and he is the best candidate out there (3rd best cv at heavy) - but as things stand he has no chance in hell of winning. Nutrionist, physical trainer and commited lifestyle - and it should have happened 5 years ago.

Maybe he does need a control-freak egomaniac like Atlas close to him. Atlas treats every fight as if his own reputation is on the line and wouldn't put up with Povetkin ****ing off.

And I say this believing Atlas was very disrespectful as Povetkin's coach. I was pleased Povetkin got rid of him...how good a relationship could they have if they don't even speak the same language? But if Povetkin has motivation problems, he needs a strong character in his corner.

    There's no real mystery.

Sometimes fighters just don't love the professional game. They run out of momentum and motivation. I guess it happened to Povetkin when he was number 1 contender, and i guess he was never really confident or eager to fight the very best anyway.
Lots of great amateurs don't love the professional game for long.
It's just a job, a way to make money. When motivation and ambition fades, you cannot expect any improvement. The guy still showed heart in there.

Povetkin isn't even a young fighter. He's 32 years old.

****! look at the size of that gut from that angle!! damn!! Looks pregnant. what the hell is this guy doing?? Really is amazing. Worked his way right up to a title shot and then sporting a beer gut and getting smacked around by a blown up limited cruiser.

It really is sad though. Who to blame? Atlas? the klits? or Povetkin himself? The condition he came in against Huck tells you everything. He doesn't want the klits and is content on defending this "title".
