So Lerrone has had 18 fights in 10 years. Still hasn’t fought anyone with a pulse. He is now 31 and has noteven won an area belt or British title. Does this guy perfectly highlight how bad the boxing business is? Fighters like him who literally just want to fight puffs and can make a decent living for 10 years doing so. Will any promoter force this guy to step up, or will he spend another 3-4 years feasting off cream puffs? Terry Chapendama comments on him during his latest podcast.
He did step up against Carlos Gongora who was in the top 10 of the Ring Magazine at the time. No one really wanted to fight him but he was offered Ali Akhmedov who Gongora already KOd on the Canelo vs GGG III undercard. Can’t believe he declined it and left Matchroom. Ruined his career. Apparently he’s fighting Lyndon Arthur on a Wasserman show for the IBO World Title next year.
Beat Lennox Clarke for the British and Commonwealth titles. Pretty sure the Gongora win got him the IBO as well. Titles aren’t really the issue it was turning down Akhmedov and resulting inactivity.
Hes just another kid galahad type without the ingle overrating, facing nobodies for years and boring everyone to sleep. Soon as he faces someone actually good , we won't see his name again.
Eighteen fights in ten years, less than 2 fights a year. Lennox Lewis, first 13 months, 13 fights. Everything that’s wrong with modern boxing summed up in 2 sentences.
He's been poorly managed. Should have fought for a Commonwealth/European belt by now. Abit like that Viddal Riley. Loads of potential but no ambition.
He's been Commonwealth and EBU champion before. Riley just fought for the English, and might get a fight with Chamberlain for the British next, inside 11 fights. Don't disagree with Lerrone being poorly managed post-Gongora but he was moved well before, has actually won the titles you're complaining about, and Riley is a weird example.
