A typical Hatton day out of training (serious): Breakfast Full english - Bacon, sausage, egg, spam, black pudding, hash brown, tomato, mushroom & beans with two slice of toast, together with glass of fresh orange and tea/coffee with milk & two sugars. Lunch Large ham, cheese and onion sandwich with a small box of pringles (the 50p ones) and biscuit/yogurt. Dinner Summat and chips - perhaps chow mein or curry Snacks Crisps, yogurt, chocolate, milkshakes + PLENTY OF ALE
I like it. I think it adds something to the viewing experience. You dont get distracted by all the different colors on screen. All you see are two fighters slugging it out. Bare and raw. The black & white contrast and the graininess is also cool. It almost feels like watching a 1950s claasic boxing reel. But that's just me.
Pavlik is true old school - fight till you knock 'em out. :!: Also his stripping down of non-essential movement. :bbb When you watch old fights it's amazing how little energy they wasted - probably because they needed to conserve it in case the fight went 168 rounds. :nut
It amazes me when someone fries the breakfast bits in fat - they taste much better when on a Foreman grill, and also contain about 1000 less calories! He does eat three or four takeaways a week plus a full English every day and half a dozen tinnies/pints of lager or Guiness. I agree with his conditioning coach though, who says that whilst he doesn't approve of his out of training diet, it is probably the release from constant training and dieting that keeps him going. Even when training he is only in the gym about four hours, followed by a late evening run - his attitude is that he would rather hit it hard in the gym and spend time with his son rather than spend all day in there doing **** all, as many fighters do. Also - no runs at 3am, chasing chickens or drinking raw eggs (certain British fighters do!).
Hell when I was 15 I used to drink raw eggs (with yolk) :admin . Was obsessed with gaining weight at the time and I have to say I built quite a bit of muscle mass in a few weeks. I sure as hell don't have that problem now (including any type of mass). Ain't no way you're gonna get me to drink raw eggs these days :spy
Actually if I was planning a fighting diet I'd do it Hopkins style - Spartan all year round. :dead After a while you get used to it and don't have to keep being "tempted" by all the unhealthy snack you are having in between diet periods. I sure as hell don't think it's healthy to fluctuate in weight that much (I heard Ricky gets up to 160 "off season" :yikes ?)
160 pounds...lol 180lbs is actually how much he wieghed before castillo.:blood 20 pounds is not alot of wieght to be honest i lost that in a month of decent dieting and hard running...40 pounds...thats a different task anyways hatton is a gym rat and wil get rid of that fat like anybody's business also you got to include he is a pub rat and will drown many a pint of guiness.
As much as a respectable performance that was in the Margarito fight, an old-school fighter wouldn't have dropped on his knees like Cotto did.
Yeah, he should have just toughed it out, even if his body and mind cant take it anymore, like the old school fighters did. It's your responsibility, it's for the fans enjoyment and satisfaction. Just like Benny Paret did.
Never said that, he has every reason to protect himself. Just honestly pointing out that it isn't far-fetched to say in half a century ago its more likely then not that a fighter would not have voluntarily dropped to his knees even when getting his ass-whooped.
Taking a knee was never illegal, ever. Old school fighters have used it before. Im not a big fan of Cotto. But I have to say he does have a bit of old school in him.
Sorry, aj, man. Im not trying to be confrontational or anything. I just dont like hearing fans think of great fighters as being weak and a quitter if the fighter decides that he's honestly had enough. It's not really all about your post. Here's the Paret-Griffith KO by the way. :-( [YT]ED2UBDMRBZw[/YT]
I don't think Cotto is a quitter nor did I say that taking a knee was ever illegal. It was just a more widespread mentality that it was not an option. I think he fought his ass off vs Margarito. Now a true recent old school fighter in my opinion would be say Arturo Gatti.
to be honest more guys took a knee back in the days. it made sense. as you had enough rounds to pull it out the fire.
