The current Heavyweight Division is one of the best eras ever

The next generation of heavyweights will be worse, then the subsequent generations will be increasingly worse.

If you read boxing magazine articles back in the 80s the heavyweight division was at its all time worse. Now the 80s are supposedly a time of skilled heavyweights.

The continually dire comments about the lack of quality of heavyweights is sort of like the campaign rhetoric of politicians. It's pretty much always the same.

Two many question marks on the current top 10 guys. Kind of a transition phase at the moment.

But a few years ago the Wlad, Vitali, Haye, Chambers, Adamek, Povetkin line up was rather strong.

Quite frankly, I think if time travel was possible an old timer vs modern heavyweight would look somewhat like the old timer was carefully managed and matched against limited opposition and when he was fighting the modern opponent he is suddenly fighting a man who can and does hit him back and this opponent he can't dominate on a physical level. I would anticipate Sonny Liston suddenly becoming a pacifist against Lennox Lewis. Liston would no longer have the advantage of superior physical attributes like the physical advantages he had over opponents of his era. Liston would not know how to suddenly fight like Chris Byrd etc. because he never had to fight like that in his day.

Boxers develop their style based on their physical attributes and limitations. Once you change the fact that the physical attributes they had in their generation would make them weak in the modern day, you change everything.

Do not mock this present era of heavyweights. Its quite the opposite to what the American media makes you believe. Why does the American media not cover HW boxing as much and try to demean it? It's because the USA no longer dominates HW boxing. This is such an ignorant thing for the American media to do. When America dominated HW boxing, especially during Tyson's era, other countries covered boxing and televised all of the fights live. Now that Ukraine dominates HW boxing, all the other countries cover them except for the US who doesn't even televise HW champions. That's embarrassing and it shows how sad of a situation that the politics of a country directly affects the sport. The US and the people that live there need to lose their egos and understand that the US is not the center of the world and other countries can be good at their sport too.

A lot of what you say makes sense but nowadays a lot of boxers fight because they want to back in the days they fought because they had to to literally put food on the table and in my opinion this made them train harder and made them fight harder

Best ever?

I guess it's all relative.

This is an international site with International posters.

I imagine if a board poster is Russian, then they would be of the opinion this is the best era since two Russian currently holds HW belts.

For others such as the nation who's boxers populated the highest honors in boxing history, this era is definitely the poorest and worst.
