Do you know how many of the current top 10 147 pounders (Ring Magazine ratings) Cotto has fought?
Five. That's remarkable. They are currently ranked 1, 2, 5, 6 and 8. His record against them is 3-2.

Do you know how many of the current top 10 147 pounders (Ring Magazine ratings) Mosley has fought?
Three (soon to be 4). They are currently ranked 4, 6 and 9. (He will soon be facing number 7). His record against them is 2-1.

Do you know how many of the current top 10 147 pounders (Ring Magazine ratings) Floyd has fought?
None. Not a single top 10 welter. His record against top 10 welters is 0-0-0.

In the past two and a half years, he's had two fights: one against a lightweight; one against a junior welterweight.

I am not a Floyd hater, but the following questions must be asked:

    1. Why is he ranked number 3 at 147?
    2. Why is he ranked 2 PFP?
    3. Does his actual current (not past or imagined) status as a fighter make him even worthy of a fight with Pacquiao?

Not really. Pac just beat the top welter to become the top welter.

Ya but Floyd Mayweather easily beats Cotto and SSM in Mayweather's ******ed fans' sex fantasies-- did you take that into account?

    Good point.

I think theres no way he should be ranked so high in the Ring's WW ranking until he fights somebody on the list. But then Golden Boy do own them these days.

No doubt that PBF is a highly skilled fighter but he's been living off his reputation since he's moved up to the WW division.

    we'll according to joy boys:
    - he's the best fighter h2h / master boxer
    - they have L in their records
    - he'll beat them anyways

... so why bother fighting them right?

Exactly. I wonder if he would have decided to choose a different path if he had an L on his record? Its so clear that he's trying to achieve greatness through self promotion and avoidance of tough fights.

Floyd could have beaten all of those? yes. Have he fought any top welters? no. It is obvious that his ranking was just based on belief/assumption that he could beat all of those who ranked top fighter.

Its so disgusting, one should be ranked according to his performance not based on assumption.

In 2006 when Floyd moved up to Welter he had beat 3 of the rings top 10 Welters. Judah, Baldomir & Gatti. He then moved up in weight to take a belt of Oscar before taking Hattons Zero. So seeing Floyd has only have 1 fight in the last 2 years compering him to active fighters over the same time period seems abit unfair. Rankings do change you know?!
