Darchinyan-Mijares : Mijares was looking for a unification fight with Montiel
Hopkins - Pavlik: Pavlik wants a piece of Joe Calzaghe
Pacquiao - ODLH: ODLH wants Ricky Hatton next
Mosley - Margarito: Margarito/Cotto rematch on June

And all of them lost. Was planning ahead contributed to their downfall???

Perhaps it mattered a bit in Pavlik's case but I don't think it really affected these fighters much, they were going to lose anyway. It certainly made them look like fools, though.

Only one I could agree with is Darchinyan-Mijares, I think Mijares was ill-prepared and overlooked Darchinyan and he paid the price.

Pavlik lost because he took a fight he didn't need to take, Pavlik wouldn't of beaten Hopkins even if he wasn't looking at Calzaghe. He just took on a fighter who he matched up badly to stylistically, and an elite fighter who had a point to prove.

DLH was just severley weight-drained and very shot. If he didn't even look at Hatton, he wouldn't of won because he would of still had nothing left physically. Pacquiao won because he was by far the better athlete on the night.

Margarito lost because his mind-set was shaken before the fight with the whole handwraps incedent, and because Mosley produced a fantastic performance.

I don't think any of Pavlik, DLH or Margo would of won even if they didn't have future matches to look forward to.

I do however think Mijares could of been beaten Darchinyan if he didn't have a Montiel unification fight lined up, because he looked ill-prepared and he underestimated Darchinyan and looked straight past him to future fights.

I disagree, fighters look ahead all the tym for bigger fights, it someone beats them then hoorah. there are hundreds of cases that a fighter overlooked someone and won
