1/8 on favorite - ok - bookies are trying to preotect themsleves from payng out money. Fair enough he is favorite. But I find it a bit bemusing how people are so sure glass chinned Haye is a certainty. Regardless of what he done at Crusierweight - this is the heavyweight division. So lets look at his heavyweight resume - since he moved up. Monte Barret - journeyman who just turned up for his cheque. Nikola Valuev - Haye ran all night like a thief - petrfied of getting hit. John Ruiz - washed up fighter - in his final fight - just one last crack - and he gave Haye a tough night. It all depends of the Audely that turns up - but Audely has the potential to destroy David Haye. Over power him - beat him up and knock him out. Audely is reminding me of Nigel Benn in this fight - not just that he is a black man with dreadlocks - but he is the underdog with a point to prove and he is up against a favoured big puncher in Haye. The hype machine has been in overdrive for Haye for sometime - the Public were duped into thinking Haye was something special because he beat a gaint like Valuev. But all those in boxing the only thing good about Valuev is his size - he has zero skill - and is just a cubersome clubber. A few fights ago - Haye was getting bashed around by little feather fisted Frogemeni and bustled to the floor by the powerful Jean Marc Mormeck. I reject that Audely is made for Haye cos he is tall etc - Hayes gonna have trouble getting past that reach and is gonna be walked onto a huge left hand thrown with real venom. I'm glad the Haye hype is so loud and proud - cos I think Haye is the one who is suspect to getting exposed here.
I havent got money to throw away unfortunatelty - but I have had a few quid on Audely down William Hill. Audley is like Nigel Benn before the Gerlad McCllellan fight. Got a big point to prove. :bbb
You seem to be suggesting that Audley has shown us some potential in previous fights, but he hasn't. It's not as if he blows hot and cold like some fighters, he always blows cold. Even when he wins. In his final Prizefighter bout he looked terrible until he found the shots, and that was at a much lower level than this fight. I know he dug deep against Sprott, but he was poor in that fight as well, even before the injury. Audley has only ever looked decent against average fighters, and only in short spells. Even when he really tries to put it all together he can't seem to keep it going for very long at all. The only version of Audley that can beat Haye is one that we havn't seen before. He has to perform better in this fight than he has in all his previous fights put together.
The way I see it - this is Audelys big chance. He's gonna be remebered for this fight. I give him the benefit of the doubt this fight will bring the best out of him. While low key fights against the likes of Martin Rogan brought the worst out of him. I remeber James Toney - got disllusioned and unmotivated and lost his way - went from being a great undefeated champion - to losing to journeymen like Drakie Thanzie. It took a big fight - world title shot - for the IBF World Crusierweight title against Vasil Jirov - to bring the best out in James and he showed what he could really do.
OK. Not glass. Not something that David Haye will easily KO. Of course Haye has serious power - and Audely cannot afford to put his chin out to dry. But bar one mishap against Sprott - Audelys chin has held up. And remeber - even the likes of Lennox Lewis slipped up and got knocked out with big bombs.
:nono Disagree 100%. The Audely who destroyed Danny Williams in the rematch knocks out David Haye inside 4 rounds if he turn up tonight. In get a feeling though - if Haye gets floored in the early rounds - he might back peddle a bit. I take Audely to wear him down in the 9th round.
Someone like Rogan is perfect to beat David Haye. Real tough - strong - limited - but tough enough to withstand Hayes early onslaught. If Haye cant get you out of there early and the fight settles down - he looks very average and runs out of ideas. Someone like Rogan coulod pressure him and give him a tough night. Haye would proably KO Rogan in the end - because he is much higher class. But Rogan would give a fighter like Haye a tough time.
So for the purposes of making your point, you've elevated Rogan to being better than Ruiz? Styles don't come into it when there's such a big difference in class.
