it doesn't matter who called who.Ward called Martinez and expected Martinez to make 168 so it's safe to assume that even if Ward was the one calling Chad he would expected the fight to happen at 168.he also doesn't own a passport, did you knew that?

Dawson actually is a cruiserweight on fight night. . . All 190+ pounds of him. how will he make 168? Hard work, DEHYDRATION, baby. . .

But I still say Dawson ain't officially the man @ 175 until he avenges the Pascal loss. . . I don't go buy the whole, "Hopkins beat Pascal, and Dawson beat Hopkins. . . " You gotta avenge your H2H losses. . Can't let another guy handle yah business for ya. . .

Right now, there is no "man" @ 175. . . It's officially up for grabs. . . That's why I was surprised Dawson is wanting to go down to 168 to fight Ward, where there won't be anymore money? Rather than trying to fight the winner of Cloud/Pascal, which will almost certainly be Pascal, to get his "true throne" back at 175. . .

Maybe he knows Pascal gets in his ass again, and takes him for yet another ride on DAI'ELLO BUSS. . . I see Ward beating him pretty close to how Pascal did, except he'll stay on the inside for longer periods of time, burrow down, and do work. . Then, using his superior foot speed, he'll move back out, let Dawson plod around the ring following him like he did against Pascal, and then Ward picks his angle, and BOOM rinse and repeat for 12 pretty boring, one-sided rounds.

Only reason I can figure out as to why Dawson requested this to be at 168lbs is that even if he loses he still holds on to his 175lbs title and he can use the excuse that he was weight drained. Dawson has little to lose here.

    There is that.

Dawson doesn't really have that many options in all honesty at 175, if he wants to earn well and go in with big names.

Pretty much all the action is at 168, given that Pascal has been out for a year and has lost twice to Hopkins in the period after their fight.

Cleverly, Cloud, Shumenov and the others are all nobodies basically, and Sillakh who was being highly touted has suffered a bad KO defeat.

At 168 there are a multitude of options win or lose this fight, if he loses, it'll either prove that Ward is simply the man, or that he was drained... in which case he goes back up, and if he wins there's Froch, Kessler perhaps and a few more names to fight, at 168 or 175.

It's a calculated gamble IMO, one that's worth taking.

As for Ward, it's a bit lame of him - he's already allowed Froch the credit for bashing up Bute, and now he could potentially lose to a theoretically weight drained opponent who at times lacks focus and was defeated pretty clearly by Pascal.

Ward ought to have wanted this at 175, for those reasons.

If I was ward I would have fought him at 175 anyway, slightly more risky but the reward in legacy is much greater.

Dawson can fight on the inside. What bothered Dawson was Hopkins circling to Dawson's right forcing Chad to use his left hand. Chad is a right-handed southpaw, he doesn't really have an effective left hand. None the less Dawson still won just because he's that good.

Dawson is kind of like a one-handed boxer. I say kind of because in the past he's shown he can fight like a true lefty. So if Ward tries to emulate what Hopkins did, he won't be successful. So it comes down to can Dawson make 168 successfully? I think he can. John Scully said he comes into training camp weighing 180lbs.

But the fight hasn't been signed yet, so we will see.

Dawson is going to beat Ward and weight is not going to play a part.

Exactly. He is the one who called out Ward and voluntarily chose 168.

Well if Dawson wanted the fight at 175lbs he would have to get in line because he certainly can't call the shots.

Dawson's own stupid fault for calling out Ward and saying he can make 168lbs easily. Ward was just holding him to it. Can't blame Ward, why should he move up if Dawson say's live on TV that he can make 168lbs easily.
