The bigger issue with that fight was the classic Showtime Vs HBO problem.

I think the simple fact of the fighter of the decade issue is that had Floyd maintained the momentum and activity in the second half of the decade that he had in the first, he would have been the fighter of the decade and had have chosen fights at the Corrales level through that period, we'd be talking about his ascention to the very upper echelons of the boxing legends.

I started to feel weird about Floyd when he was crying in the ring after bashing Gatti around like a rag doll.

When he fought Hatton I was disapointed it was a welterweight fight.

Fighting Marquez was a joke no matter how you slice it and all due respect to JMM - He's not a welter - P4P doesn't mean **** when you're dealing with that kind of disparity.

The only fight Pac lost in that decade was a tough but clear decision to a bona fide legend in Erik Morales which he avenged twice by definative KO.

I agree, but what are the chances that he would have fought all these tough fights had he stayed and not cherry picked like he currently is. Besides he may have picked up a loss or two had he chosen to fight the best (Floyd is only unbeaten in hypothetical fights). We'll never know really. Fact is though, he retired to avoid the big dogs at WW and came back after they beat the **** out of each other.

Tszyu said there were discussions for a Mayweather fight, but Floyd wanted all the money so he chose Hatton instead. I remember it like yesterday. Whether Hatton or Cotto were ready or not, if Mayweather wanted those fights he would've made them happen, just like the Tszyu fight.
