It's blown out of proportion by the media. At numerous points in the 1970s, the U.S. had very few champions in the sport. But since the HW division was dominated by Americans at the time, it was paid less attention (or people forget about it). It's not some brand new phenomenon.
Decline? NO, I look at it more like a resurgence of good fighters from around the world. We had the UK vs. US last night, The Phillipines vs. England next week. It is better for boxing and it's all good with this Mexican guy.
