Morrison was an exciting fighter to watch who had some degree of talent. But at his best he was a high end club fighter - fringe contender who was carefully brought along and heavily marketed.
I think that it is exaggerated. he was a world class force in a very hard hw era, not a Lewis,holyfield or Tyson but he was in the next step below. He was a top dog and i listened that he knocked out riddick bowe in a sparring session i am not sure but anyway he was a very dangerous guy
I have no sympathy for a guy who boxed his entire career and had an untold amount of unprotected sex while aware of his positive HIV status, no less at a time when treatment was marginal. Deal with it.
I actually think he was SEVERAL steps below Lewis, Holy and Tyson. Simply existing in a strong era doesn’t make you a great fighter unless you actually beat some of the elite. Morrison never beat any good prime fighters and struggled with even some of the lesser aged men he did beat. The Foreman fight was an anomaly as George expected him to brawl toe to toe and Tommy didn’t for that one fight only. Tommy was a tough guy and fun to watch but aside from the hype, Rocky movies and over marketed PPV events, he basically topped out at fringe
