Has anybody read this mad ******* book? The basic premise reads like Janitor wrote it. Dempsey is brought back to life by genetic engineering or some **** in the near future and gets matched, in chapter one no less, with world heavyweight champion "Kingsley" who drops him with a right hand, breaking his ribs. Dempsey watches himself unbelivingly on the giant screen broadcasting the action in the stadium and shakes his head, "all he'd wanted to do was win the world's heavyweight title and he'd done that more than one-hundred years ago."

Then chapter two again, Dempsey riding the rails as a teenager.

Wtf, lol and rofl. Anyone read this madness?

"He was a good three inches taller and a hundred pounds heavier than the boy. He als had a sizeable gut hanging out over his pant line and his face was round and fleshy."

No not Jess Willard (boom boom!) but a challenger to a sixteen year old Dempsey's claim that he could "lick any man in the house!"

(you got to love boxing lore)

He got in big trouble for naughty sparring. He ****ing elbowed a guy in the guy in sparring  Naughty Jack!

Basically, this promoter bankrolled this research into particle vibration in the past and works out how to clone JD. It's the guy who was about to fight Carpantier. Now, in 2029, Jack's all ****ed up about modern life and trying to get his hear around all this whilst at the same time trianing for fights. I also think he's getting warmed up to putting the blocks on this scientist woman

First mention of the top black contender of the era...Harry Mills...Dempsey's surprised at the fuss people make about him not meeting his top contender, but admits to its being a "mark against him." He's trucking about America just now. It's kind of interesting actually. I was wandering if perhaps of all the great HW champs in these bygone eras if Dempsey isn't the one most out of place in a modern world. It's not hard to imagine Jack Johnson or Jim Corbett finding things a good deal more agreeable.

He's reading A Flame Of Pure Fire!
