People are nuts. He may be the "future" in terms of being popular, but I can't fathom how anyone could watch Canelo (especially at that point) and think "this guy is a future all-time great...he'll beat Mayweather".

He is/was being hailed as the next big fighter from Mexico, but it was obvious that he was far below the likes of Morales, Barrera, and Marquez in his actual quality as a fighter.

Given his popularity, it would be good for the sport if he really was a great fighter, but he is what he is. He's a pretty good fighter and a decent champ/title-holder. He's solid in a lot of areas, he puts together punches well and is a good counterpuncher. He's not blessed with extreme physical gifts nor is he technically brilliant. Good in most areas, and overall, a good but far from great fighter.

Same here, it was obvious to me that Mayweather was far far better and would win a clear decision. I won't say I was necessarily surprised that there was a decent amount of people picking Canelo, there will always be people picking the upset or picking against someone they dislike, but I just shook my head when people acted like it was some serious test for Mayweather and that Canelo was a serious threat at beating him. I figured the only way Mayweather would lose would be some freak injury or he somehow got old overnight.

This is a terrible thread. When Mayweather was coming up in the 90's, he was a phenom. A true athletic marvel. When he was @ 130 lbs., he was basically unstoppable.

All these guys were suppose to beat money. Vegas was built on you guys betting against floyd. But he remains undefeated and the hate in your tiny hearts continue to grow. consider yourselves as blessed to see the best ever to put on a pair of boxing gloves and to witness this in your lifetime and not read about it in a history book . you will be able to your grandchildren that nobody does it better. :happy
