Marvin Johnson use to go through his entire training camp without showering. Something about being a distraction to his opponents in the ring. That must of have been one funky smell come fight time!
Yeah, I remember Jirov talked about that before the Jirov-Toney fight. Toney then bragged about that being nothing compared to his own tough childhood in the projects (but as I posted before, Toney spent his teenage days playing high school football and sitting in his mothers bakery eating pastry. He started boxing because he was obese and the other kids at school made fun of him - which got hot-tempered James in many fights). But there's no doubt that both Jirov and Toney are very tough men.
Boxrec is not complete...there are many fighters with partial records and such, especially if they are from eastern asia or africa or from the early 20th century or earlier.
The worlds first super middleweight champion was a Scottish kid who won the newly created title in March 1984. Over the course of his career he lost fights to Richie Kates, Michael Spinks X 2, Matthew Saad Muhammed, Eddie Davis, Tommy Hearns, James Kinchen, and Bobby Czyz. He scored wins over undefeated Pablo Ramos, Tony Mundine, undefeated JB Williamson, Alex Ramos, Ernie Singletary, Wilford Scypion, and stole a zero in his professional debut. Now, what's his name?
Frank Bruno appeared in adverts for HP sauce. Frank Bruno spent time in a mental institution (he has bipolar disorder). Frank Bruno hit a teacher and got expelled from school and sent to a school for naughty boys. Frank Bruno almost had to quit boxing in the very early stages of his career because of a dodgy eye that he had surgery to fix. Ricky Hatton and his wife are seperated, but stayed close friends because of their son. Chris Eubank used to rob shops and basically lived on the streets of London (he was also chased by the police on multiple occasions). Chris Eubank once picked up a homeless man with mental problems, let him have a bath and became friends for a short period of time. Chris Eubank and Frank Bruno smoked a lot of marijuana (not together). Chris Eubank likes Bon Bons, particularly strawberry ones that have been in his car for months and have softened. All of those came from their autobiographies.
