Is the main factor speed? Manny walks around heavier than 140's between fights, so im sure his speed won t be too affected in comparison to when he went at with Diaz. Also does anyone know the hand size difference between him and oscar?
pac came in at 147 during the diaz fight. it is expected that pac will weight 150 during the fight w/ dlh. dlh will probably come in at 160 for the fight. and hand size?? pac actually has the bigger fists than dlh. pac has a 10" fist while dlh is around 8-9".
If Pac came in at 147 against diaz then there should be no concern about his speed being affected, just pac's wide punches agains delaoyas jabs
PacMan was 146 in the Diaz fight, which is WW. He'll be around 151 fight night this time, and it won't affect his speed really... Remember he had hard time making weight even at 135, without any kind of dehydration, I'd say 148-9 pounds is his current natural fight night weight. 3 pounds north of that won't make much difference... The difference that the opponent will be heavier than him. Size difference happens all the time, Williams, Caballero, Dawson, they are much bigger than competition, still there's a way to beat them. But Oscar will be around 154-5 pounds, heavier than anyone PacMan has ever fought. Quite ironically, it's EXACTLY as heavier as PacMan used to outweight his opponents... I'm saying this all the time. PacMan doesn't have weight issues. His opponent, Oscar does.
And ... it will be first time PAC will not have to drain his weight before the weight in, so fresh PAC with 5 more lb in the biceps ... DLH is going to meet mister canvas in the very first round.
Like others have said, Pac came in the ring at 146 for the Diaz fight and Roach has said he will be pretty much the same against Oscar. Pac is only going to win this fight on speed and intensity so no point in bulking up anymore. I expect him to enter the ring at no more than 150. Pac's speed will therefore be similar to what it was in the Diaz fight and he should have better stanima as well because he won't have to work hard in the days leading up to the fight to make weight. This may well be the fittest and strongest Pac we have seen. Whether it will be good enough to over come the size difference we will have to wait and see.
