Hmmm... maybe. He was ranked as the division #1 by all the magazines. However, D-Mich was the lineal champ and arguably the rightful holder of all of Jones' WBA, WBC and IBF belts. The fight needed to happen to clear up supremacy in the division. The fact that it didn't is a stain on both their resumes, but more so Jones as he will be historically far more highly ranked!

    Face it Calzaghe fans,

The guy just ain't that liked nor respected.

His punching technicque is awful, his showboating is gay and he has pulled out of more fights than any other boxer in the sport today.

He has picked and chose his way through his career his whole life.

He refused Robin Reid a rematch despite many thinking Robin beat him and now he dismisses a huge money rematch with Hopkins... yet he happily sprinted into the ring to fight Mario Veit (a man he already beat in 1 round!).

He has about 15% of the fans of Hatton and about -20% of the charisma.

Tszyu & Mayweather were perhaps the most mouthwatering fights of the last decade for British boxing and Mr Excitement Hatton stopped a legend and then got stopped by a legend.

He could have feasted on every 140lb bum in the division to keep his record intact but he took the plunge and gave away every advantage he held to get Floyd into the ring.

    Thats a warrior.

Clinton is a top guy out of the ring but I don't really think he was quite up at the level of DM. Clinton is a really gutsy guy and while I've always loved seeing Roy perform it was a little sad to see Clinton take such a pasting. Unfortunately for Clinton, Roy was in top showboating form that night! Roy knew he could play with Clinton and I feel he would've beaten Darius too, but for some reason he was just dead against the Darius fight. It would've been a tougher fight than against Clinton but you'd still imagine Roy would've done the business by the end.

If he ain't that liked or respected why the hell did you just take the time to post that ****, I mean who are you trying to convince?

You misinterpret my point - you say a Calzaghe-Jones fight couldn't have been made, but Jones-Woods was, and Calzaghe would have had substantially more money behind him than Clinton Woods.

At the end of the day it doesnt really matter what we the "True" boxing fans think of either fighter or any fighter for that matter as we make up such a small portion of their fanbase or "haters"........... its how they are percieved by the casual fans/general public as they are the ones who they have to convince to pay to see them fight and as they only see it on paper the ins and outs of a fighters record/resume doesnt really matter to them as long as the fighter is successful they will continue to watch them.....

Yes but there was also a lot more money in a DM fight than the Clinton Woods fight but that still didn't happen even though HBO and DM's camp were on side for it. Maybe a Calzaghe-Jones fight could've been made but there was no real effort made on either side at a time when even the lead contender in Roy's division was willing but unable to get a fight with him. Money was not the issue

I hear you hitman_hatton but I really think PBF will stop Margarito unless he chooses not to. Apart from the target practice on Margarito he would also get a consistent punishing body attack as well which would slow him down. Assuming Floyds hands are okay I see Margarito being stopped in the last quarter between rounds 8 to 12.
