Is that the US has so many top fighters that you feel you dont need to take notice of overseas fighters . then when someone breaks onto the world scene you only deal in cliches and know a fighter from that moment when they actually break through. they may as well have started their career at that point.

we in the uk are not as blessed with the number of world class fighters so we have to watch foreign boxers. we follow US fighters careers at a much earlier stage so we know what they can and cant do and are much more clued up.

this is why we know a top fighter when we see one cos we've followed their career while you label our fighters with silly words like slappy and ducker cos you dont have a clue about them. maybe its fear or something.

    either way you're missing out.

again this is only about the casual fan.

This is a bit of an unfair generalization - it has less to do with nationalism and more to do with one's familiarity with the sport. Unfortunately in the US - we don't have as much access to overseas fighters as European fans might so we only have a limited perception of those fighters until they break through into the world scene. To say we don't know good fighters is just an unfair generalization.

Stupid fans don't know talent when they see it. Smart fans know the real deal no matter which side of the pond it comes from.

And how many US fans on this board do you think even know who the guy in your avatar is? I had to track down Watson's fights because they weren't readily available in the States - even amongst collectors. But once I saw him - I knew he was an excellent fighter.

Unlike Toney and RJJ, Calslappy didn't clean house, he was an overprotected fighter who could have been alot better had he not waited so long to go after the other big names at 168, were you wrong about his talent? NO, but the man hid behind his WBOGUS title far too long, and is fighting past prime versions of Bhops and RJJ.

Ok well these are huge generalisations but i think uk people are not so nationalistic (ok uk isnt a nation butttt) and can appreciate fighters from anywhere cos as mentioned we dont have as many world class fighters but like to see world class fights. I think uk peeps are not so competitive either which i why we idolised frank bruno and made him a national hero (taking part that counts and being funny with it a la ricky hatton) - I think as casual fans uk people can just appreciate a fight for being a fight and not turn it into some rocky 4 type situation where it is us against them but just two fighters fighting to see who is best.

Americans on the other hand (purely a generalisation) seem to be ultra competitive; ultra xenophobic (i dont mean racist just insular but racism might apply too) and from reading many comments on the board just - total fruitcakes force fed a lot of hype (granted we had amir khan but i think most people saw through that early on).

It's not really our fault in the US. Boxing coverage is very limited over here. We have HBO, Showtime, ESPN and that is about it. If the fighter is not featured there it is very difficult for us to get our hands on some footage.

The main difference is we get all the big American fights + our own so its obvious we would have an advantage over the American viewer.

Yeah we got that for free, that was a good one.

The channel itself costs about $25 a month in your money but you get Soccer, Boxing, Golf and all of your American sports such as MLB, NHL, NASCAR, NCCA Football ect included and the boxing comes as no extra charge.

We've got Calzaghe Jones coming up on there for free to and i see thats PPV for you guys.
