I disagree. I don't think Royce used his gi in that fight. Go back and watch it, or check out the vid I posted above. You'll especially like it since you are currently studying bjj.
Good question, I think we'd see a lot less action, the postional aspect has been mentioned and even in terms of g'n'p as it's much easier to control the arm of someone wearing a Gi by gripping their sleeves. Would it be even more of an advantage to a wrestler with out a Gi? No doubt if two guys were wearing a Gi, you'd have to favour a guy like Werdum over a wreslter likeCain. But without a gi on, I think Cain could potentially have a field day with Fabricio
Yeah Ive seen them all fella and always enjoy. Every one I watch they point out at least 4 or 5 subtle points that I was totally ignorant of watching the fight live.
You are right dude about him not using the Gi too much but how can we say what Shamrock would have done had Royce not been wearing it? Maybe Ken feared the Gi after seeing how Royce used it earlier that night? We will never know. I still think Royce would win though... Just more drawn out and less impressive Lynchburg
Well imagine you take a whizzer to stop strikes from guard for example, the guy pulls his arm out easy. Put the Gi on... The arm gets stuck. Now there will be a number of disadvantages too like chokes and such but I would say for the right player against the right opposition the Gi will give him an edge. Rusty and Pira will know a lot more I'm sure. Plus I'm tired as it's 03:43... Lynchburg
