It's not what you deserve its what you negotiate.

How do you reconcile your opinion of Khan with characterising Prescott as a 'live opponent' when he has done nothing except knock out Khan?

I happen to think Amir Khan's a more than decent boxer.

I still believe, however, he's been given some decent breaks on account of his favourable connections, rather than the level of opponent he's 'put away' to date.

Original poster needs to look at the WBA heavyweight issues and rankings which are a joke. Ruiz and Meehan and DK fighters always fight each other.....

Hey if governing bodies wouldnt waste peoples time with 'rankings' then i'd agree with you .. If your sitting there and telling me that Khan deserves a shot at the WBA 140 title then your crazy .. You talk about 'Thats how boxing is' but you name me another fighter in the history of the sport that has got a title shot in the way Khan has. He hasnt had to re-build his reputation after being sparked out at 135, he hasnt even had to have a build up fight at 140 to get a title shot.
This is unique in WBA and probably boxing history, were a guy gets a title shot that is SO undeserved, and if you dont recognise that Cobbler then you know nothing about boxing. The arrogant tone of your posts on here are funny to me but you very rarely add anything of any interest that makes me think of anything ..

khans fighting a top ten fighter at best lets not let these multiple paper titles cloud basic sense

whats his name is not the world champ by a long stretch and neither will khan if he beats him, hell theres a unified paper champ going round 140 as well

Thats a great point but you must understand that the heavyweight division is the weakest in history .. David Haye being a big player in the division based on beating Monte Barrett proves that theres nothing in the division ..
Povetkin and Chagaev have some ability but in any other era they would be blown away, i personally think Haye and the Klitschko's would be blown away too in any strong heavy era but you've gotta judge on what you've got ..
This heavyweight division could be the weakest division in any era and any division in the history of the sport so using it as an example is a little flawed

Unique to boxing history? Lol, get over yourself. As you think this is unique in the WBA (not to mention boxing history), perhaps you could give me your view of the merits of Danilo Hausler's mandatory shot at Mikkel Kessler's WBA supermiddleweight title. Not even a voluntary defence, the WBA forced the fight.

I would work it out for myself, but what with not knowing anything about boxing I could use your assistance...

I'm starting to think using Hausler as an example was just mean.

Perhaps some more standard ones to start with.

Celestino Caballero - after being knocked out by Jose Rojas loses again three fights later to Ricardo Cordoba. One win against a guy with a 1 - 16 record and suddenly he's got an IBF world title eliminator against Ponce De Leon. Three years on and he's in the Ring P4P top ten.

Jason Litazu - knocked out by a journeyman. Three more fights against more journeymen and gets an IBF title shot.

Glen Johnson - loses three fights in a row at middleweight and supermiddleweight. Then beats a guy with 3 - 20 record, a guy with a 24 - 16 record, a guy with a 9 - 23 record and a guy who'd been knocked out in the first round in his previous fight (which was his first outside the Netherlands Antilles). On the back of that stellar run, Johnson lands a shot at the IBF title.

    LOL, where do you start?

Well the Heavies: Cobb, LeDoux, Daniels, Roman, Wepner....

And that is just off the top of my head for a 12 year period for the WBC crown....

Khan has no power? Go way and **** off mate. He stops most of his men for **** sake it dosent matter who they are he stopped them. Breidis Prescott must have no power either because he KOd nobodys before Khan.

I've got to agree with those who are saying that money talks and Kotelnik has obviously been made a very good offer to fight Khan. Its the way boxing has worked for well over a 100 years and people never moan when that "system" provides the fights they want to see.

I don't remember too many people complaing that Hearns and Leonard were allowed to jump ahead of all the middleweights and fight Hagler.

An overhyped boxer getting an undeserved title shot?

Shock, horror. I'm assuming the police have already been informed.
