    Ippy.. you'll find that WBA (BBBoC) and WBC (NYSAC) had been strained since Joe Louis initially retired.. Following the first bout with Jersey Joe Walcott..

    The BBBoC announced a match between Bruce Woodcock and Freddie Mills?? Len Harvey?? Woodcock won the bout, carried Champ status, yet the BBBoC denounced his status upon Louis' return.

    The same two bodies had recognised different champs for a long time. Generally, one man was recognised by the boxing media as the foremost CHAMP... The Ring mag is attributed to the recognition of most champs that became the most agreeable.

    So yes, Liston was the WBC champ... WBA champ.. Universally recognised!!

    An example.. Jimmy Ellis. The major parties disagreed with his claimancy to the title.

    Yeah mate I'm aware of the BBBC and NYSAC, but seeing as the WBC was formed in 1963, I'm very interested as to whether they were off the ground and running by the end of Liston's reign.

    Tua is nuts for knocking the klitchko fight back. As inactive as he's been and as bad as he looks, one more loss and it's all over for him.
    Makes sense to get his shot while he can, he's not getting any younger or better for that matter.

    Pure coincidence.....simple as that.

    Probably has a bit to do with Mark tired of being shelved by King and seeing a period of inactivity as being a total waste.

    Leon is right, the presser was professionally set up, he has a number of major sponsors on board and promotional gear to boot.
    He has signed in to World Crown for boxing training camp, has flights booked for a meeting with King this week in the US.

    Hardly a knee jerk reaction to a few blokes throwing around a 20K winner takes all message board challenge...
