The double standard against slick black boxers, Broner, Floyd....

No, there's a double standard in favor of them. Broner doesn't even qualify as slick, he just has a philly shell so he's somehow automatically in the club. If he were Mexican or Puerto Rican and had a peekaboo instead of a shell guard and got tagged like that against Rees, the Broner fanatics wouldn't be saying "he knew he could deal with his power" like they are now, they'd say he had no defense and was going to get exposed by someone with power.

Broner's a great boxer puncher and he's good at what he does, but any criticism whatsoever and his fans get butthurt.

 

you're making a good point, but may be coming to the wrong conclusion. Broner and Floyd are cocky assholes who haven't been knocked down a peg yet. So that's why they get hated the way they do.

The contradictions in Boxing concerning Black fighters goes back to the Jack Johnson days.

Ain't nothing new about this, mayne.

 

The main reason there is high standards placed on Broner is because he is already rated top 10 P4P and many favour him over the likes of JMM and other elite fighters at 147 lbs and below. This naturally makes people who watch him at times expect to much from a fighter who still hasn't reached his prime.

Still not in favour of his jump to 147 lbs though it deserves respect that he is jumping up weights to fight a World class fighter. I still feel he should try to unify the division he fights in as it would do better for his legacy as right now he holds 1 out of the 4 belts at 135 lbs and the same at 130 lbs.

 

Why is it when Mexicans come forward and give the fans exciting fights to watch, they have zero defense? zero skills?
