well marciano haters here ya go. the douglas that beat up an untrained tyson vs the greatest ever in the prime of both their lives. can douglas stand to marcianos relentless attack or does douglas blast the lights off of rocky?
I think Douglas has alot of success here. The difference here is that Marciano at no point would be reduced to one punch at a time. He's in the fight every second. There's a good chance Douglas just outboxes him and wins by decision, or a stoppage, by cuts or otherwise. Rocky did have the punch, though, to turn an impending loss into a win instantly.
The reason that Marciano went 49-0 and Tyson didn't was because his training ethic meant that he always had enough to pull something out of the hat when sombody like Douglas put up an above par perforence.
marciano would look like a puny man standing beside douglas as soon as douglas lands his first punch to the jaw of marciano marciano would be heading to the canvas face first:think
This would be a fight. Both men have heart and neither would want to give it up. I think Buster would have his shining moments, but unlike Tyson, Marciano would be relentless in grinding Douglas down. I'd say Rocky knocks out Buster late. Rocky's constant body punching would gradually hurt Douglas, leaving him open and vulnerable for a late round knockout by the Rock. This is a fight I would like to see, actually.
That version of Douglas boxes Marciano's head off. Any other version loses to Rocky but not that one. He was on his toes all night pumping his jab and throwing hard fast combos from the opening bell. How does Rocky reach him? Honestly how?
He'd get in close and catch him somehow. 12 rounds is a long time, and no one was better conditioned than Rocky. If Tyson could floor Douglas with a Hail Mary uppercut, then Rocky certainly has a chance. Matter of fact, Rocky has a better chance because he'd be throwing punches non-stop. This would be a war, though. Both men would be tagging each other, but Rocky would catch up late.
Tyson isn't a swarmer so maybe the comparison is not as apt as is it is being deemed. It should be a great fight and i think Marciano could definitely win it.
seriously dude..you really think it would be a one punch knockout in the first round Douglas? really?
Douglas decision. But he better not have a lapse in concentration like he did with Tyson, or Marciano finishes the job.
Douglas put on a great show against Iron Mike, but the fact that Tyson stood there and let Douglas land at will makes Douglas look better than he really was. Douglas was landing double and triple jabs, moving well, and throwing some hard, crisp combinations. Tyson wasn't countering. If Rocky could handle Ezzard Charles, he could handle Buster Douglas. It would be a tough fight, though.
:deal I never want to take anything away from a good fighter fighting to his max in a great fight but people act like he was literally a different fighter for a night. For a magical night before turning back into a pumpkin...etc. It's so silly. "Tokyo Douglas" is still "Boise Douglas" and "Columbus Douglas" and "Dumpwater City Douglas".
