after watching calzaghe-hopkins, it hit me. boxing is not the same. punch stats has got these judges fooled. professional boxing has regressed to amateur style judging. if a fighter throws flashy arm punches with no effectiveness, they win. this is an insult to the sport.

i am not only talking about JC-BH, i am speaking about boxing in general. i thought the fight was terrible, on both sides, on one hand hopkins looked old as hell, he should retire, he didn't look good. then calzaghe wasn't effective at all. he slaps and adds up points. i would understand if the punches we solid, but they weren't. scoring a fight shouldn't be about how many times fighter puts their gloves on the other, but about hard effective punches that do damage.

    The problem with boxing is:

    1. Sanctioning organizations.

    2. PPV events

what about the fighters and the integrity of the sport. if frauds are winning, the sport loses repsect.

Where is it written in stone that a punch has to have a certain degree of pain behind it to score? Dont ever remember the point of boxing being for one of the fighters to be hurt, its like fencing....the art is in touching your opponent with the sword......not slashing the ****er in two!! Point being....if you dont have a massive ko punch ala Joe Cal..then he does what he can to score points.

Biggest load of bollocks I have ever heard. Joe does slap some times but he also hits with some big shots ask lacy, hopkins etc. After all would you not slap now and then knowing that your hands are a little fragile and you boxed.
