Strongly agree with this, Dubois wouldn’t have been anywhere near a 1/4 favourite if the general consensus was that it wasn’t a fair fight. Most didnt rate Joyce, banging on about how slow he is but didn’t have any regard for the things he does well. Dubois was very overrated because he knocked out some lesser opponents but actually achieved very little. All his fights now need to be ones he actually learns from.
But that is the problem. He's been matched cautiously then thrown in with an operator like Joyce. The gap wasn't bridged. Do agree though.... beforehand it was built as a 50/50 fight and Dubois was the favourite in many peoples eyes so you can't just now write the win off and not give Joyce his credit. Both men deserve there props for taking such a fight at the stage they're at and given the current climate.... and let's get it right Joyce didn't blow Dubois away like the way some would have you believe with some of the responses I've seen. It was a close fight, I had Joyce up but he was breaking him down with the left hand and forced the stoppage.
Dubois was ahead on 2 score cards, on one of them by 7 rounds. Had he made the final bell it looks very likely Queensbury had his points victory in the bank. I bet in that alternative universe Frank wouldn’t of been talking immediate rematch...
I get your point but I would keep him away from Hammer and certainly Jennings for a good while yet. Think he will be out for a good while and should comeback in a 8 rounder or so then fight someone like a Lenroy Thonas before stepping up to a Wach. Above all Dubios needs a hell of a lot of work behind the scences as his stamina is poor, his defence average at best, his variety poor, his footwork needs to improve. Might sound hard but without fixing those issues he has no chance getting to the top.
Im generally amazed at how many people had Dubois up on the cards Joyce won for me 7 rounds out of the 10
The worst thing about it all, Frank would’ve talked up the win and sent him straight into the Usyk fight and it would’ve been even uglier. This outcome is much better for Dubois, he needs to now stop listening to the Frank hype and actually know his level and start learning in fights. Everyone will write him off now but this is actually a good thing, nobody is expecting anything anymore - prove us wrong Daniel.
I wouldn't put him in with Price, DD is I'm sure in a bad place mentally and won't be right for a while confidence wise, as limited and beatable as Price is even that fight is potentially dangerous, one more bad loss and Dubois is finished, best put him in with some complete carthorses to rebuild his confidence and then maybe look at the likes of Price, Kash etc.
I had it close prob Joyce by one going into the 10th but after first few rounds it was clear he was going to win, Dubios before eye even looked that bad looked like a beaten man in between rounds.
Yes I think 2 from the following 4 is a good rebuild: - Nick Webb, Kash Ali, Simon Vallily or Dominic Akinlade Price isnt a good option because he has such a big punch and is too dangerous at this point.
His face needs rebuilt first but this injury is the last thing one needs as a Professional Heavyweight Boxer. A small man like Frampton could maybe get away with it in his division but not fighting the big guys. His career could be over and if not now, his first tear up will most likely be the end.
