Theres been thousands of people who've went vegan who've reported on the tremendous mental and physical health effects it has had on them. Were some just saying this to validate their position? No doubt, but it certainly does have a positive effect on many. I truly believe it's not good for the body, spiritually or not, to consume meat from an animal that's been slaughtered to death and especially those that were pumped with drugs during its lifetime. If vegans don't have any bad side effects and are reaping the rewards for their diet then fair play to them. They are doing the right thing ethically.

I was vegetarian for a few years but can't say I noticed feeling any better for it. I tried going vegan but found it hard and a lot of effort, so didn't last long. It doesn't help that all meat substitutes are either very bland or downright disgusting. I think in future as more people go vegan and the market gets larger, their will be more companies investing in vegan products, which will make it easier being vegan. It's especially difficult when you're out and just want to grab something to eat, your options as a vegan are very limited.

These days I'm on a vegetarian diet, but I do cheat occasionally, probably 2-3 times a year.

All things considered I do think veganism is the way forward. it's better for your body, better for the environment, and the poor mo cows don't have to die just so we can have a sarnie. I do love a good steak though lol

Veganism is basically an eating disorder and a sign of mental health problems. And don't let the cult like vegan propagandists fool you, it is extremely unhealthy and unnatural.

Worse excuse than whipping out the sore toe after the Wlad loss! He was injury riddled and is a shot fighter. I was shocked and thought he would be better than the first time. Bellew was right from the start about his body being broken -- fair play to him!

Haye's body broke down long before the veganism & his deterioration is not related to him being a vegan.

His body broke down because he has been fighting at 40LBS above his natural weight of 180LBS, which he is able to fight at due to combination of weight lifting and "supplements". Even if he had stayed at CW that would still have been an additional 20LBS for his body to carry, but he moved up to HW and made it worse.

Add the fact that he is an explosive type fighter who uses high impact jerky motions and its recipe for your body to give up on you by the time you are 30.

Booth had told Haye to retire by the time he was 30 because of the above- he knew with his style and background he would be over the hill by then.

Im Vegan. Have been for about 16 months. Was a veggie since the last years of school. Nearly 20 years of veggyiism. I did couple of years eating meat within that time when I was convinced by someone it would make me stronger for sport, I wasnt body building or trying to look good. I was doing a lot of boxing and wakeboarding at the time. I also did a year as a pescitarian when I decided again that meat wasnt the way.

I am pretty sure the amout of whey protein, creatin and food in general that I was consuming was the biggest contributor to muscle growth rather than the meat. And the exersize of course.

Been lazy the last 5 years due mostly to injury.

This year I am seriously stepping up the exersize Im going to be doing and sticking with a vegan diet. For the last month I've been drinking vegan based protein shakes twice a day, I wasnt doing that before, eating healthy as well as increasing sport.

I'll give anyone an honest review at the end of the summer if they felt the need to know. At the moment I feel good but the start is always the easiest and hopfully the improvements will continue.

I try to take a vitamin tablet a day for b12 etc etc sometimes I forget.

Essential amino acids build muscle, not meat per se although meat and egg whites are the most efficient way of getting them short of necking horrific tasting shakes.

Yeah, science is great aye! I am going through 2 bags of unflavoured pea-protein at the moment as it was dirt cheap. ****ing hell its disgusting, I just neck it though. The flavoured vegan blends that have a balanced mix of amino acids I tried in the past have been fine though. Not going to be a cheapskate on the next packet.

I used to jab good quality hgh peptides and neck EAA and it was the most jacked I've ever been, far more than when I was using peptides and chugging protein shakes. They tasted absolutely revolting however.

Its quite a simple answer to the question.

Name me one athlete who is at the top of their game, right up at the top better than those who aint vegan.

    One thats all.

PS Vegan bodybuilders do not win anything. They put themselves at more risk by having to take extra supplements and more gear to try and compete. However a lot of Vegan body builders go Vegan cos they aint gonna win anyway and do so for the extra attention and sponsors to make up for the lack of income for not being at the top end of the spectrum.

You dont think Scientists and nutritionists havent studied this intensively ? Of course they have and is there a load of noise about switching? No.

I guarantee, GUARANTEE that if there was a any benefit then most athletes would switch in heartbeat. They are constantly looking to gain that extra 1-2% in performance from anything. If was proven to be more effective then they 100% all switch. I mean they already do, is it normal for folk to eat boiled chicken no sauce nothing added and some Broccolli like 4/5 times a day. Hell no, most hate it, its boring and horrible and need to force but thet still do it because it benefits them.

I'd heard of vegan bodybuilding but I assumed that was just a bunch of pencil-necks with 12 inch arms.

Or perhaps some 'Born Again' 50 year-old ex-pro who somehow survived a massive heart attack after thirty years of eating kilos of red meat and taking high doses of AAS.

Yeh but with only an estimated 1% of the general population (never mind athletes) of the uk being vegan, is it possible to make an accurate comparison?

name me one athlete who is the top of their field that is a vegan ..... ONE thats all

If it was better they would all change FACT. If you think someone at the top will just allow others to get an advantage on them just cos they dont fancy veganism then your massively wrong.... They take gear FFS to improve, if you dont think they would change their diet (they already do just not vegan) then again you are wide of the mark.

Scientist & nutritionists have been looking into it for years now and if they were able to prove anything it would be done by now and as i said pretty much all athletes would have changed

you think researchers havent been looking into it for years? Athletes pay the best of the best for this info, they are in the know. As I said many body builders have tried it (everyone of them are ones that dont compete at the top level) and they do it for the extra exposure and sponsors but none of them have improved and became more competitive in a sport/competition where what you put into your body is prob the most important aspect.
