Erik M in his comeback fight signified his intention to face JMM at 140 lbs. If Erik bring the game he had vs. EM-Pac I, he will surely send JMM into total retirement.

EM is very accurate puncher/counterpuncher, very technical and packs a lot of punch during their pacman duo. Any boxer who faces Morales that time will be totally outgunned inc the today's Pac.

    Morales planning comeback!

    By Gabriel F. Cordero

After two years away from the ring, three-division world champion Erik Morales says he is targeting a fight with Juan Manuel Márquez or Marco Antonio Barrera next July. The 33-year-old plans to get himself in shape at his training camp in the Otomí mountains of Mexico and return as a lightweight. “I want to return to boxing soon, but against a good opponent. We have spoken with the people of Golden Boy Promotions to do the fight against Juan Manuel Márquez, but have arrived at nothing concrete. I believe that I have a lot left and I want to go two years more at the maximum to try to conquer a fourth title at different weight and to be the first Mexican in do it,” said Morales.

He added that Mexico currently needs a new boxing idol. “We’re in a transition where the last generation is on the way out and the new one is on the way in. Unfortunately, we are some years away from knowing who is going to take the reins of Mexican boxing. We thought it was Antonio Margarito, but was not more than a fight and adios. Jorge Arce hasn’t demonstrated to be more than a mediocre fighter. Really we do not have many figures who have maintained at the top. One is, in spite of his age, Juan Manuel Márquez. Although he has lost some fights, those have been against the better opponents of the division and of the world, but he’s up there at the first level.”

why does this always happen to fighters after they retire? I mean you don't see regular joes being that fat but for some reason every fighter quites the sport and decides "I'm going to go from being one of the most conditions individuals on the planet to a fat slob. You know, just to see what thats all about."

JMMs get kocked out. JMM should do whatever he can to duck Morales.

This happens to fighters that quit being gymrats but do not quit being big eaters. Boxers literally train their asses off in the gym every day and are used to a high calorie intake because they need just that because they burn so much through their workout. If they stop boxing and do not succeed in bringing down their food intake along with the diminished workout, this is only natural. Metabolism speed plummets, and weight skyrockets.

Basically they get so fat just BECAUSE they were used to work out to the extreme and have the food intake that goes with that.

Because Pacquiao lost, every fighter loses to that Morales? That sounds like an ESB opinion to me.

I agree with Erik Mexican boxing taking a blow from the Margarito incident, but it will always have a handful of proud warriors just waiting to represent the next generation, but it takes time, like everything, and I can understand his frustration.

IMO, there is no reason to fret, as I have JMM as Mexico's best warrior along with his brother Rafa and Izzy Vasques, all future hall of famers, but the age thing esp with JMM might make many fans wonder how many more fights JMM might have left. IMO he hasn't slowed down, on the contrary. Even though they're not Mexican in nationality, Arreola and BJ Flores carry both the American and Mexican flags with pride. There's Abner Mares and Alfredo Angulo and plenty more. Erik should relax and enjoy his retirement, he has nothing to prove and as for Margo, well the answers will surface and wish him luck and Angulo has a good chance of replacing him.

EM will be too much to handle for JMM IMHO, his lenght and his ability to box. Hes just more versatile and had more power.

Pac makes JMM look great moreso than any other fighter. But EMs is a different fighter altogether, he wont compliment JMMs counter punching style.

I agree... JMM has pac's number stylistically. fortunately for pac he has the athleticism to even out the field.
