Pavlik got away with draining down to 160 for a long time, and who knows, he might decide to try it again. However, if we simply let the facts speak for themselves, and look at the records along with about 5 tons of available video, it's pretty easy to see that KP hasn't been a middleweight since February of 2002.
I hope this fight comes off. Bute has the style that can give Pavlik fits but I wouldn't count out Kelly scoring a TKO as well.
how's the weight coming? i understand they were down to 168 a week or more ago? i know the 165ish seems to be the point where the weight doesnt want to come off anymore.
Bute wont hold his hands on the waist against kp when the fight will get rough... Bute does that to lour you in so he can counter... even against Brinkley you see it, he often brings his hands in front of his head, when jb is attacking. Bute, knows where to hit to make him suffer, and remove the edge of kp by weakening him. I wonder how Bute would do against an A fighter boxing a similar style to himself, a powerful boxer-puncher?
Pavlik has no chance against Bute? Rubbish. I think he has a 35-40% chance, or so. Pavlik has a very good jab and not a bad right hand either, to say the least. If he comes in shape, healthy, without having killed himself to make weight, as he indeed should, he could make the fight very close and even win. But, of course, if Bute comes in at his very best, he should be favourite to win. I doubt Pavlik can TKO Bute - most likely, he'd win by close decision. Bute, at his best, should have a fair chance of stopping Pavlik.
on the contrary...after training 3 times a day, eating cabbage soup and needing a steam and a 5 mile run on the day of weigh in...he probably coulda eaten the ass out of a bear.
