I didn't keep names, sorry, just read it somewhere on them interwebs that do be floating around. I, of course was taken aback by it myself, but it had been said, so I threw it in. Made him seem slightly more impressive.:yep

That's probably all you needed to say. Henry Armstrong would've been a better inclusion among the list of supposed "duckers". I've heard that one many times.

As an aside, maybe I'll do one on Williams sometime soon. Williams, Kalambay and Zapata are all ones I'm considering.

I'd love to see you do one pal :good

The wikipedia rippers were ripped at the time :deal Personal opinion mixed with 'fact' is the consensus way of getting the best out of an entry and helping those who want to learn about a certain fighter (why this thread was first created by the legendary Mandanda).

I'm gonna' go back and revise some: Greb is too short, as is Chang. I now have Haradas first fight with Medel and his fight with Caraballo, so that can be tweaked/added to.

As I say, would be interested to see who you picked, and it would be comprehensive....some of mine are a bit shabby

    For sure.

Didn't Zale duck Burley at Middle as champion? Like, big time, and fought Graziano instead, who was not nearly as highly regarded.

If I had've made it up myself, probably. Alas, I didn't, so answered the question asked(granted, not quite a satisfactory answer though).

I may've heard something about that, although I'm really not sure. As good as he was, Burley was never actually rated the #1 contender. Not that Graziano was, either, but if given the choice between the two of them I'm sure dollars made sense to Tony. Not losing probably made sense, too.

McGrain is really the guy to ask on all things Burley, though.

Well, not to harp on about it, but it kinda just sounds like you made a mistake and aren't willing to own up to it. Not to harp on about it, though.;)

    Kalambay :happy

Williams....well that would be a read (sadly not a good watch:twisted:) as would Zapata.

I am doing Lennox on request....Starling is my next assignment, which is sheer joy as I'm sure you can imagine, really enjoying showing off his best bits to the potentially uninitiated. Then, I'ma do David Reid (just a short one) and Marcel once I get my Shibata/Gomez fights through ;-)

That's pretty much what I heard. And that Zales management promoted Graziano as better than he was to make it more feasible or whatnot.

    Fixed ;-)

I've had no problem admitting mistakes before, I assure you my good man that I wouldn't start now. Believe it or not, I once didn't believe that Cristian Mijares was at one point rated in the top five pound for pound by some, crazy times. S'all good though, take it or leave it as they say.

He was here when it happened. If I'm not wrong he was on my side....the incredibly shocked and disappointed side :D

Aye, the Mijares era. 'Twas a sad one indeed. Learned a good lesson, though. Haven't fallen into the trap of over-glorifying a fighter since. I maintain to this day that he had the skills. Just lacked the mentality.

I agree. I think he turned up to the Vic fight with much the same opinion as we had: easy nights work with an admittedly awkward but wide open foe.

You were half-right about Mares....he got to the top but has looked very much a contender rather than an Elite-level fighter :D

I'm taking a break from all Mijares-related stuff(barring the comparison I just drew up obviously), as it's the only thing people really notice me for. I'm sure people were shocked that I didn't mention him in my Santa Cruz thread.

Am I reading this **** right?

Has nobody done Mike Tyson? Really?

Unless I'm going blind, and missing the glaringly obvious, I'd love to do Iron Mike (No Manilow)
