This is very true and is the caviat with the Saturday plan. Get into an arguement on Saturday, continues to Sunday.. and your back to square one.
This is just a silly idea for people who seemingly miss the point of a forum and have no self control. "Oh people argue all the time and we waste so much time on here and people don't respect the elder boxers so we should all post in classic" People here rate the fighters of today and admire them. While some go the other way and disrespect some pretty darn good fighters to boost their own, for the majority, there are good threads here. Funnily enough looking at the names in this thread, it's most of the people who cause personal arguments rather than fight arguments and involve insults against most that they talk too. You sound like a pack of whinging brits.
I understand your viewpoint and know that you are at least partly talking about me. Im ok and can handle it. One suggestion though... You are new to the forum and haven't seen is devolution in the past months. What you are seeing on the surface may be the old vs new debate, but whats happening underneath it is that we lost our mods a while back and the forum just isn't what it used to be.
The couple of threads I've been involved with you in, yes, you can get a bit personal but you're quick to apologise, you aren't so much a problem and I can see your point of view that a young guy who hasn't seen the fights of the older guys is just ragging on them to try make his fighter see better. This forum is like no other in my view, you've got your extreme cases of people like the guy who always tries to rag on Floyd Mayweather Jr or Joe Calzaghe right through to the other guy who seems only to want to cause arguments everytime they enter a thread. The only worry I have is the lack of respect most guys have for fighters in this place.
Yes, I know for a fact that Bear won't do this. I think that he would leave outright before succeeding at this, not that this is a good thing for the forum by any means. Brooklyn leaving is like dropping a black hole in the middle of this place, I am pondering leaving as it stands, posting here without Brooklyn is like setting a goal without the chase, it's bland and KG has not yet proven to me that he will become a tough dictator to fill in the spot, so I am torn Sir ACB. :think
KG is not the tough dictator type, rather the cool operator that knows if he gives you enough room to trip over yourself you will. Pea is more the dictator type that you seek. I know that many will think that everyone is leaving because of Brooklyn. But as you know you, I, brooklyn, and I think even kg have talked about it for a while. There are still some great posters to stick around and do their thing though.
This is a personal black hole. It was always Amsterdam-Brooklyn & Huki as the triumvirate de facto leadership of boxing analysation. Just like Collins, Banks & Rutherford in the best incarnation of Genesis without Peter Gabriel. KG is Peter Gabriel, isn't going to work. Who's going to become the new Banks, who will fill the hole in the triumvirate? This is messing with my head!:|
Let me clarify, I won't totally leave. I'll just post 95% less, pop in once in a while. This is inevitable as I'm an aspiring musician that is gaining a little bit of ground, but I need to talk about my favourite sport with competence. No need to be humble. We are the elite.:yep The best 'writers' in the sport now cannot compete with the analysis laid down on this site again and again.
Really? What do you play? This has been true, there is some great analysis on this board. PacD posted an article the other night in which a "boxing scribe" said that Pac had the best defense he had ever seen. I **** you not.
A thread is going up on Monday so that resume's can be sumitted for your replacement via PM. I don't expect a replacement in this crop of flawed bozo's and pacifists, so as I have said, it's all unraveling.
