It's a good replacement in terms of getting Chilemba some exposure Stateside, but I reckon it's a big step up in quality for Miranda. I expect him to lose on points, as he's still a tough *******.
As long as you're ready for getting a bit frustrated with him I think you'll enjoy it. I mean, he's going to entertain, but he's one of those guys that you know could easily take a step back and compose himself, rather than allow the red mist to come down and become ragged as soon as he gets caught. It's funny actually, I was reading an interview with him the other day(I'll post it if I can find it - where he pretty much acknowledged that he flips out when he gets caught and looks for war, but I found it odd that he's just seemed to have come to terms with it and accepted it as part of his game. That not only merely getting caught, but just hearing the crowd making noise makes him want to entertain, even if it's to his detriment. Thank god he didn't fight Juanma. Yeah, it seemed inevitable that Despaigne was going to pull out after the loss to White, who I was hoping would get the fight as a reward, incidentally. Not a bad replacement, but I honestly don't think Miranda's beating any of them. EDIT: MUST UPDATE SCHEDULE! I keep forgetting about it completely. All he's got left is a punch, a relatively big name, and a volitile temperament, so he's gonna continue to get showcased for a while yet I think. In spite of not being very good anymore. You think? I threw it together pretty quickly. Despite it being only 150 words or so longer, the Davis-Lopez one took me like thrice as long.:yep
I was including yourself as one of the ''many'' who disputed it. Can't say I've scored it, generally I don't score fights when watching them live. By the way everyone, here's a highlights vid of the fight, I seem to have lost my full version of it: http://boxingsociety.com/allboxing/fight_highlights/jorge-diaz-vs-teon-kennedy-highlights.html
I'll need to watch that fight again, as I was in two minds upon first watching it tbh. I like Kennedy though, and looking forward to this fight a helluva lot.
I only kept a mental scorecard, but I thought Diaz had won by a couple. One or two of those scorecards for Kennedy were abysmal. The second knockdown of Diaz was vicious though, I thought Kennedy was gonna finish him there and then.
Here's that Kennedy interview. It's not particularly good, to be honest. Kennedy doesn't appear the most willing interviewee.:conf Check it out anyways, I suppose.
Brillient job, J. Should be fun tonight. This thread will be the run away contender for TOTY in just a couple of months. :deal
Both weighed in at 121.5lbs, and I'd expect Kennedy to be shaving off some of that bum fluff on his chin. Magdaleno was bang on the super bantam limit and Ugas was like a pound and a half north of 140 or something. I'd imagine he'll be chief support, but I'd rather it to be Magdaleno to be honest, who I consider the brighter prospect. He really shouldn't be a throwback fighter though. If he wasn't so hot-headed he'd maker for an alright boxer. That's the dream, I'm averaging what is technically 2 encyclopedia entries a week here. I just want more people on this bandwagon, we pulled decent numbers last week, hopefully it'll gradually increase over time.
Last week I didn't stay up cos I had work Saturday morning but will be watching tonight :happy For the schedule...Jan 27th now looks like this: At Airway Heights, Wash. (ESPN2/ESPN3): Ruslan Provodnikov vs. David Torres, 10 rounds, junior welterweights; Ji-Hoon Kim vs. Yakubu Amidu, 10 rounds, lightweights Feb 10th: At Uncasville, Conn. (ESPN2/ESPN3): Demetrius Andrade vs. Derek Ennis, 10 rounds, junior middleweights; Ray Serrano vs. TBA, 8 rounds, junior welterweights Feb 17th: At Arlington, Texas (ESPN2/ESPN3): John Molina vs. Marvin Quintero, 10 rounds, lightweights; Shawn Estrada vs. Terrance Woods, 8 rounds, super middleweights (though it's being reported that HBO want Rios to fight John Molina on March 3rd :think). Feb 24: At Los Angeles: (ESPN2/ESPN3): Juan Carlos Burgos vs. Cristobal Cruz, 12 rounds, junior lightweights; Efrain Esquivias vs. Roberto Castaneda, 10 rounds, junior featherweights March 16: At Cabazon, Calif. It's got nothing to do with anything, but does anyone else reckon Karim Mayfield is incredibly youthful looking for his age? The guy is 30, but looks about 18
