We were owed a good one after that dud that was served up last week. Shame that we appear to be the only two survivors here, I really enjoyed that one, the tatical element kind of went out the window as Martin began to fatigue and it turned into your typical Teon Kennedy war of attrition. Can't argue too much with the draw though, I had Kennedy by a round personally. I felt that despite his arm punching and almost smothering himself at times he managed to squeeze in some decent work towards the tail end of rounds, firing off from a bit further out and mixing his offense up a bit, Martin struggled with him coming up with upeercuts and around the side with hooks all together.
:good good fight from two fighters at crossroads in their careers. both fought their socks off and i'd like to see it again- maybe on the undercard of a big fight?
Yep. Can't argue with a draw really. If i gave the last to Martin which i could've done i would've had a draw too. I had Kennedy by two in the end though. His workrate, variety and Martin fighting a dumb fight in spots won it for him on my card. Martin really gave that away. Not taking nothing away from Kennedy's work but Martin when he kept it at centre ring. Drew Kennedy's lead and countered then moved was having a lot of success, especially with the right uppercut and hooks outside Kennedy's line of vision. He would just inexplicably trap himself and sit on the ropes. Doing a bootleg version of the shoulder roll. But not rolling properly with the punches and getting caught at will on the ropes. he gave away rounds by doing that. Another critical thing is he lost his legs as well from the 6th or 7th and they were his first line of defense. He started holding his feet and fighting more of Kennedys fight after that. But we have our first candidate for FNF's fight and round of the year in the books. It's Prod time next week! :happy
[ The 27th, Slip. Sorry to break it to you but they're taking a week-long break for some odd reason. It's ruined my future plans too, I have final college assignments that day! I can't focus knowing that both Prod AND Ji-Hoon Kim are out later that night!
On a positive note, it means I can spread out my inevitably long-winded stuff over the course of two weeks rather than cramming it into one. Plus it gives me ample time to research Torres a bit. Because to be perfectly honest I don't know too much about him, I wonder why Julio Diaz isn't taking Prod on anymore? That was an interesting proposition. Anyways, I'm off. Hopefully I'll have both fights on YouTube tomorrow. Adios.:hi:
I nodded off during the Ugas fight, woke up at 10 today thinking the fight was still just about to happen.
Caught up with this fight today , it would have been a ******* for my blog as it was a very hard fight to score. I scored the fight 96-94 Kennedy although the draw OR a Martin win would have been more than acceptable. Most of the rounds were very very close , it got me thinking of a thread i read on another forum asking if you favoured a "workrate" fighter or a fighter that "picks" his punches better. Hopefully there is a rematch but i can see both guys moving on with this as it wont hurt thier IBF ranking...Kennedy 7 , Martin 10. Here my scorecard which i wil add to my blog on a seperate article covering the FNF's... 10-9 Martin 9-10 Kennedy 9-10 Kennedy 10-9 Martin 9-10 Kennedy 10-9 Martin 9-10 Kennedy 9-10 Kennedy 10-9 Martin 9-10 Kennedy...............96-94 Kennedy ps: the Cuban guy on the undercard looks like he has all the tools to go really far but his workrate needs to be alot better though. Almarez put up a great effort though. I scored the fight 79-72 Ugas
I missed FNF after my Sky decided to **** up. Gonna hunt them down on YouTube or something tomorrow and post my thoughts. Tried to avoid the result of Kennedy/Martin but temptation got the better off me just now and I finally caved.
