One day Devon is the new kid on the block and the one to take over the sport, the next he's a *****, a quitter and has the technique of a drunken sailor. The kid won 298 of 310 amateur fights and earned himself a WBC strap, needless to say.. he lost to Bradley and seemingly gave in from all the headbutts. But a *****? C'mon....
*****? No. But could he have carried on? Yes, almost certainly. The head butts were caused by both men. Alexander's cut was caused by Bradley, accidentally. The following head butts, both were to blame...I don't see how Alexander can throw all of the blame on Bradley when a number of the clashes were caused by Alexander jumping in amateurishly.
The most ironic part of it is, I've seen members with Tyson avatars saying "Oh DeYvon is a ***** and a quitter". The intellect of a fruit fly.:-(
I agree with you. Most of these guys have no clue whats going threw a boxers mind during a fight. Head butts hurt with head gear I could imagine how they feel bare head. The man is not *****. He fought to the best of his abilties on that given nite and lost. He has acomplished more than probally most the people on this form. Heck how many of us made more than a million in one hour.
You've been here long enough to realize speaking on Devon's guts and grit is premature. People called Cotto a god damned quitter against Margarito, in hindsight, who does these days except a few deluded mexicans?
Find myself agreeing with this. I remember reading one or two posts before the fight and how it would play out as a TD, due to the styles clash, size of men, and the potential for Southpaw/right hand fights to result in butts. Great call by some on this forum. I'm not going to write Devon off but he has more work to do that I thought he did. Bradley confirmed his positioning the in the P4P rankings, I can't believe I have seen Ward above him to be honest. He should be right next to Martinez in my book.
