Impressive 6.5-1 ratio @1238-199 opposition averages about 26-4 starting with big winners from his pro-debut :think

So far history proven its Near impossible to stay undefeated vs 26-4 opponents 46 out 46 times, which is alot of pressure on guys try to pass themselves as undefeated stars :conf

After Floyd 6.5-1 ratio @1238-199 ~ average 26-4... there is an undeniable big gap in Opposition class the next highest is LARRY Holmes whose average opponent was 16-4 a major drop in class :sad2

What are they if you don't include the first 15 fights? Usually the first 15 or so are to get a bit of experience and are against poor opposition.

If you remove Holyfield or Rigondeaux first 15 fights you pretty much put away an important part of their career :hellohi

They were elite amateurs and Olympians so their careers would obviously start at a higher level in the pros but for those who weren't they had gain some experience, recognition and work their way up.

Its just those competition analysis are specifically favoring the boxing elites :nod

    That said...
I still respect Eddie Hearn "for the people" approach to boxing, taking the special one under his wing & the prizefighter alternative excitement :boxer

Its just this is reality...life is unfair...these lists imposes that...Those guys became Elites against the will of many men...lots of necks were snapped in the process :bbb

It's not how they start their career that's important it's where they go what counts.

Pac is elite as they come. First 20 fights, 19 wins, 1 loss. Opponent ratio of 1.1-1.

Pacman started out as a peasant, he couldn't even stay undefeated and admirably worked his way into his current elite status :boxer

Many boxers start as elites and decline into peasantry

Very few, if any boxers start as elite & finish elite...If Floyd Mayweather manages to leave as an elite before #1 Welterweight Keith Thurman sacks him....it will be an amazing feat of self awareness and an unprecedented act of wisdom :bowdown

    Impressive stuff from Mayweather.

Out of interest, if you take the ratios of the first 46 (or their entire record in the case of SRL) fights of Ali, SRR & SRL and compare the quality - ignoring whether they won or lost the fight - what do you get?

The reason I ask is that people seem to make the point that to stay unbeaten you have to cherry-pick. I'd be interested to see the quality of opponent of the above 3 in comparison with Mayweather and then their respective win percentage.

For example, Floyd has a 6.5-1 ratio and a 100% win record against that opposition.
Sugar Ray Leonard has a ??-1 ratio and a 90% win record againstt that opposition.

In summary SRR opposition I know for sure was below Ali & SRL, Kid Cincinnati credits Angelo Dundee aa Matchmaker for Ali/SRL, Mayweather matchmaking is similar.

A good number of handlers tried to take that matchmaking blueprint, usually those guys with fancy records have big egos...so sometimes they snap and their charges get KTFO...thats why they trust verified losers...thats the reality...its a "trust" issue :yep
