The excuse thread when Ward beats Kovalev.

Tell me friend, at what distance will Kov be throwing a punch that will break Wards jaw? Not from inside bc he can't fight inside. Not from mid range bc Ward will smother him and have him eating a hook n cross every time he tries to get off. And certainly not from long range, bc Wards a master boxer and has never been hit hard from the outside. So from where?

 

Ward can only smother people who are brawlers, or are smaller than him (Froch, Kessler). Kovalev is more powerful, more technical (elite amateur pedigree) and can box. If Ward ever tries to get within range, Kovalev will tag him with power shots, throwing him off his game, he will be on his bike for 12 rounds, mark my words. People cannot honestly say Froch or Kessler are elite technical boxers, they aren't, just heavy handed brawlers. Abraham was a bloated up middleweight for godsake. I will bump this thread when Ward gets his jaw shattered, or loses a wide UD from being on the run for 12 rounds. :bbb

 

Please explain where I am wrong?? Andre Ward has fought 4 times in over 5 YEARS!!!!! Those fights were against journeymen at best. He's done NOTHING since the Super 6 Some say he was unfairly favored throughout that contest. To rank Ward in the top 10 P4P today is tantamount to calling Pee Wee Hermann a Super Hero. As I said in another post IF Ward does fight & LEGITIMATELY defeat Kovalev I'll apologize & call him CHAMP!!

Here's the deal.

IF.....and that's a HUGE IF, if we objectively view Ward's past, he enters the ring opposite Kovalev, and even so much as EARNS a 7-5 decision, with at least 5 undisputable rds, he's the CLEAR and CONCISE P4P #1.

No GGG, Kovalev, chikkenson, Yeller, Pact@rd, or FL0M0 will argue otherwise, or even have room to do so.

However, if he wins 3 clear and somehow wins all the close rds, Kovalevs pride, ie fighting him anywhere, anytime, any judges etc, will have likely gotten the best of him, and that's really the only excuse that could be made. Duva had Malik Scott robbed blind when he won 7 rds by a mile and 9 altogether. Derek Chisora got robbed vs Helenius. See there. Im a white fightfan, and Im clearly giving examples of black fighters being robbed against white fighters. I can do that because Im not a demograph. So, you MAY have to do the same should Ward get a gift.

That said, Im taking Kovalev by KO. :tired

 

Agree with this but rooting for Krusher and don't like SOG(though concede he's a excellent fighter when he fights). But yeah 50/50 fight for mine but gun to the head forced to pick for my life Ward close decision.

While I hate Ward for his arrogance, his ducking of Bute, and his disrespect to the man who spared him a KO loss to Bute, ie Goosen, it's undeniable how well Ward adapts to different styles, and like you, if I was forced to make a life and death bed, I would yeild and say Ward by close decision.

Kovalev is gonna NEED to land big and fight perfectly from range, and EARLY, or Ward will adapt, spoil and tie Kovalev up inside and bump his body with arm punches enough to win rds. :fire

Agree. Any real boxing fan should be looking forward to this fight. Maybe not the biggest, but probably the best fight that can be made right now. I also agree with those who say that the winner of this fight should be the no. 1 PFP guy.
