Although it now appears bhop genuinely did sustain a shoulder injury, this clearly appears to be another case of the boy who cried wolf. If bernard wasn't acting injured, crying and wincing going for an oscar performance to con the referee and gain time in previous bouts like against Roy Jones and Calzague, perhaps the ref would have been more sympathetic and believing on this occasion. It's not surprising people doubt him because even how he had his gown half off and somone holding the ice pack the whole time and his wincing face whilst saying 'whats goin on' when it was clear by this point the bout was going to Dawson, had an element of theatre to it. He didn't deserve to lose his belt but u can't act all the time calling it old school tactics then expect everyone to believe you when you're bein truthful!! This content is protected
Yep. It all caught up with Bhop last night. Good. Although I didn't envision it quite like that, I always thought it would be great if Chad beat Bhop with "old school"(read, dirty) tactics. Give the ole man a taste of his own medicine.
I've been defending Hopkins, but I can't deny it is indeed a perfect case of 'the boy who cried wolf'.
Off the top of my head I can recall - 1. Hopkins not being able to continue against R Allen for a NC 2. Hopkins lying on the floor for a while against A Echoles 3. Hopkins trying to fake injury to get time out against J Calzaghe 4. Hopkins lying on the floor pretending Jones Jnrs punch was behind the head. Now we have a similar scenario with Dawson
